Vegan section on the menu and fresh juices. Friendly staff, outdoor tables. I had the vegan burger that came with sweet potato fries and a pineapple mint lemon juice.
Right in centre of a busy centre street of Gisborne, sits the Jolly Miller. The inside has a clean and pleasant decor with all the possible cakes you could ever want on display. The coffee machine was whirring and the coffee was great. We were just there for a quick cuppa and afternoon snack. Our friend ordered a big bowl of chips was generous, crisp and tasty. A very pleasant place to come. The service was prompt and the delivery of our order just the same. The only thing I would say is it is a tad expensive. The red velvet I wanted to take home was a bit beyond my budget with the cupcake, though generous in size, being over $7.
Nice food but very slow/poor service. Ordered a smoothie and after 20 minutes realised it wasn't coming. Then asked for a hot chocolate which also didn't come... Ended up with no drink whereas my partner got her drink straight away. Poor. Won't be coming back. Also very little care factor.Food: 4/5
Just loved this place. Friend and I met halfway between us and just picked this cafe sight unseen. Food great, Had the fish and chips. Staff so welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend it. They also have a Doggie menu so got some Doggie cookies to take home. They were much appreciated! Parking: No problem with parking along the street and it was a Saturday
As a local, highly disappointed in the nonsense of a surcharge on a weekend. Never seen that before in my life. Public holidays, yeah, fair enough, not on weekends. Everything is already on the high end of pricing as it is. Not to mention, I come in and order the same thing every time and get charged completely different prices. Also have witness work place bulling by management to young female staff members. Will not be supporting this place what so ever. Look after your locals and staff that are looking after you.
Always getting charged different prices for our coffees? I checked bank transactions over the past two weeks for x2 coffees per day and NOT one was the same amount for exactly the same order each day. I’ve been charged up to $17.80 for two coffees! After only bringing this up with management this morning after the cost was once again different from yesterday, he explained weekend surcharges… are you kidding, ok well if that’s the case yesterday was a weekend and I was charged $15.20? Today I made two transactions, Firstly I order was for two coffees, came to $16.80. I then ordered my daughters iced chai latte and was charged $10.20, for one drink!! Crazy prices… ok it’s a Sunday with surcharges I get it but $10.30 for an iced Chai latte is ludicrous. Not to mention most staff have been so rude, definitely won’t be going back.. Disappointing to see this place doesn’t support our locals and all about “the money”
Found this oasis by accident, and I'm glad we did. The staff are lovely and after ordering we didn't have to wait long at all. Very pleasant indeed
For $265.00 4 adults 3 kids under 9 food was average, vegan fritters were over cooked pad Thai was vey gluggy. Had to ask for the prawns meant to be with the pad Thai. Owner I think asked how was the meal, when told all he could say was he will look into. Also just be very wary they charge a 10% surcharge on weekends that is not listed anywhere until you go and pay at the counter.
Waited about 20 mins and didn't even get a menu, whilst other people all around me were sat with menus. No one checked on me sitting outside nor when I moved inside due to heat and no service.
I used to love to come to Jolly Miller for lunch or coffee and cake. We went last weekend and the options for lunch were so few, mostly pies and sandwiches, then we decided to have coffee and sweets.... OMG they put the prices up but the size of the lemon tart is now ridiculous!!!!!! It is so small that there is no way to put filling enough to be tasty. It is 1/3rd of the size it had always been. We took note and even the cake slices are just a cake sliver now. Yes, it is tough to commerce at the moment, as well to everyone else.... and the way they going it will be even tougher for them. They lost 6 clients at once this time. Very sorry Jolly Milleer.
