Excellent little Italian restaurant in Cessnock. Very rustic atmosphere and ambience, with delicious pizzas and pastas. The Arancini entry was decent, but the pastas and mushroom risotto were exceptionally good. The stone baked Pepperoni pizza was excellent as well. The food does take quite a while to come out, and the decor, while rustic, is still a bit dated. Food is really good though, and highly recommend to try it out if your in the area.
A nice place to go if your looking for a selection of simple rustic Italian food for a reasonable price. This place has a charming small business vibe both in presentation and service. The mussels entree were accompanied with a delicious sauce on crusty bread. Was definitely the highlight for us
This place serves some of the best food I have ever eaten. Fresh ingredients are nicely presented on the plate by staff who know how to deliver in every sense. The owner is passionate and makes sure that your experience is top-notch. The atmosphere on a mid-week evening was superb. Families, friends, and couples all chattering away tells you that people are happy to be there and enjoying themselves. I would definitely go again. Just need the excuse to travel 10,000 + miles to do so.
What an absolute little gem! We stumbled upon this beautiful Italian restaurant on a one night stop over in Cessnock and it’s hand down one of the best Italian meals we’ve had in so long. Very rustic little place with a whole lot of country charm. Every dish was packed with so much flavour , the presentation beautiful and the staff were warm and welcoming. Highlights were the mussels, 4 cheese gnocchi and angel hair crab pasta
The service was overall great, but the ‘dramatic girl in the white blouse’ aka ruby truly went out of her way to give good service. Food was good, I’d say the white bait could be crispier, and the seafood pasta had an awful lot of garlic - I didn’t think too much garlic was possible but it was all I could taste. Overall was great service and great food.
This restaurant was amazing! Food was delicious, and the staff were very accommodating to my booking of wanting to sit outdoors. The bruschetta wasn’t what we thought it would be but we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The tiramisu was 10/10 - do not leave the restaurant without trying it. Thanks Ruby for looking after us. We will definitely be back!
A high rating for a reason!! Couldn’t fault anything at all. Taste is amazing, portion sizes are great and the service is lovely. A menu loaded with options you’ll take ages to figure out which one to choose! Pasta is fresh and loved the arancini - a must visit if you live or are visiting the area!
Great service from our waiter Rocco, and the food was even better. The sauces were all rich and authentic, food warm and fresh, atmosphere relaxed and inviting. All that at a reasonable price. If I was a cessnock local I would be a regular.
This is my second time stopping here from Sydney on the way to the Hunter Valley and it was as good an experience as the first. The entrees were yummy and the two pizzas were very filling forgot to take a pic of those! Topped it off with a delicious tiramisu. The staff are also very welcoming and friendly. Definitely recommend paying a visit to this lovely restaurant.
We dined at the Italian cottage after craving Italian cuisine on Sunday night over the long weekend in June. On entry the restaurant was packed and busy ! Sonny the manager had politely informed us once we seated that it was a very busy night and that orders were taking longer than expected but the food would be worth the wait. We ordered: 1 Raviolli di zucca - Butternut pumpkin, sage and amaretti raviolli. 2 Rigatoni al spezzatino di agnello - Lamb shoulder slow cooked with white wine and a hint of tomato with saffron. 3 Fettine di maiale alla pizzaiola - Pork tenderloins pan cooked with Tomato, garlic, oregano, panne di cassa and hint of chilli 4 Capricciosa pizza - Tomato, fior di latte, ham, olive, mushroom, artichokes 5 Dessert - Vanilla and chocolate cannoli's The food was amazingly tasty and definitely worth the wait !! 1 The sweetness of the pumpkin excited my tastebuds and matched the fresh made raviolli very well. 2 The Lamb shoulder was soft, tender and tasty while the handmade pasta complemented the dish well. 3 The pork tenderloins were cooked perfectly in thin slices and the tomato based sauce with the chilli was a great touch with the right amount of flavour and spice. The bread was a great idea to soak with the sauce as well ! 4 The pizza crust had the perfect crunch and crispiness throughout and no sogginess ! The ingredients gave a great balance and was one of the highlights of our meal. 5 Cannoli's were fresh from the crispy pastry when we broke them in half to share and the chocolate and vanilla creamed fillings were delish. The staff were polite, attentive and came around at the end to ensure everything was well despite being a very busy night. Food = 5/5 Service = 5/5 Dining experience = 4.5/5 I highly recommend dining here as the tasty food, friendly staff and overall authentic Italian dining experience was a great way to end our weekend trip up to the Hunter Valley. I will be coming back if I'm in the area again. Bellisimo Lemon cello! Quick tip: Book for a weeknight to avoid the busy times.
