My son has been having lessons at the Guitar Gym for a few years now. He is not the most enthusiastic or easy student, but Darren has shown endless support, patience, and understanding. Because of Darren's excellent teaching and positive attitude, my son has improved immensely

My hubbie Don has been going to Matt at The Guitar Gym for lessons  for the last 4 years. Once a week religiously. He is an Octagenarian and loves music. He plays a 3 string cigarbox instrument and I listen to him playing along with his music streaming device on our back deck. On wednesday evenings he goes along to a jam group at Tonys Garage at Nundah. He does this with encouragement from Matt his teacher and he loves it. Better than practice he says. I think he now has over 30 songs in his repetoire. The end of year and mid year concerts at the Judith Wright Concert Centre really give an insight to what it is like to play in a group on a full sound stage for both young and older musos. We would both refer The Guitar Gym to a friend - because of their patience, their reliability and their musical knowledge and talent. I am looking forward to hubbies retirement soon maybe so that he can spend more time developing his skills and relaxing with his music.  Thank you Matt and all at The Guitar Gym

What a great experience. I came here with my one string accounting bass drum, and I simply cried with happiness from the way I was thought to slap that bass. And yes, I meant to say drum. They have these were candies they call 'picks' available too. Taste a bit like plastic, but that's alright. 10/10, would slap that bass again.

Am I destined to be a star? Maybe not but it won't be for lack of encouragement and support at the Guitar Gym. At 54 with no prior musical experience I started my lessons. From the outset my coach, Ben, and the team at Guitar Gym have been amazing. I love the lessons, enjoy the company of staff and other students. I have a weekly joint private lesson with my much more skilled daughter and Ben keeps us both working without letting her get bored, or me left behind. The lessons are supplemented with regular group workshops that are fun, and build skills. Materials are available on-line to assist your development between lessons, and I enjoy the cameraderie of the forum. If you've ever wanted to try playing, what are you waiting for? My only regret is that I didn't start 20 years ago. Give it a go. You won't regret it.

My appreciation for music has been significantly elevated due to the interest and instruction I have received from Darren. I have also progressed in my abilities albeit with a combination of lack of practice and self imposed critiques I place upon myself. Despite this Darren has continually encouraged and grounded me with his honest and caring instruction. Teaching is not a musical sideline to him. I play an acoustic steel sting guitar, learning at the Guitar Gym. Ryan is my guitar coach, and doing lessons as an adult he adopts the lessons to fit in with the amount of practice I’ve had time to do, he holds me to a high standard, but is still happy for us to just jam on the weeks I need it. He is down to earth and has a passion for teaching guitar that comes through in our lessons.

I have been playing guitar for a while and had hit a wall creatively. I started taking lessons at The Guitar Gym for a few months ago and I have already seen a vast improvement in my technique and ability to compose music. My son 8 and daughter 6 have been attending lessons at the guitar gym for the last 6 months. They really enjoy each lesson and look forward to them each week. Ben does an excellent job of keeping the lessons exciting and fun. The kids guitar playing has progressed very well and as such they are super keen to keep on improving. I would recommend the guitar gym to anyone who has a child interested in learning the guitar.

The Guitar gym provides fantastic, bespoke lessons that provide just the right mix of playing, technique and theory all underpinned by supporting a love of music. My son's teacher is wonderful at adapting the lesson to suit how my son is feeling on the day to ensure he gets the most out of the lesson and is always supportive and encouraging. The administration team is very prompt and accommodating. Very highly recommended!

My 8 year old daughter has been learning guitar for just over 12 months. Her teacher Darren has been really supportive and got her to a place where she can now be confident in her ability. His teaching methods have ensured that the lesson is fun and maintains her enthusiasm to keep learning. Now if I could just get her to practice more!!!
