The Grounds, Let me start with saying the fit-out of this Venue is amazing. The Parisian nights atmosphere and vibe was simply impeccable from all of the little nuances to the careful designs. We had just arrived from interstate and wanted the city store to be our first food adventure of our trip! Food Presentation: 7/10 • It could certainly have been amplified with visual additions just to satisfy the eyes a bit more given brunch/breakfast culture is constantly evolving. Taste: 7/10 • Avocado and Feta on Toast Poached Eggs Florentine - We are happy with the taste, very safe but lacking in more flavour whether it should be sprinkled with paprika or some subtle spice to give it a kick. Service: 4/10 • Big props to the Madam Host of the morning and our very own handsome Inigo Montoya in the bar, these two had best service but neither of them were assigned to the floor Bar Staff looked after us when he wasn’t busy behind the bar. The floor staff were certainly overwhelmed possibly understaffed, only once were we acknowledged that we would be tended to and never again by the floor staff. I think there is a disconnect between following through and doing things one by one. If you do everything at once nothing will be achieved which seems to be the case. We did notice with several other tables there was something wrong food missing, no bill check, no water poured. Overall, it is a good experience for Breakfast! I understand it’s a Friday morning and very hectic but we do want to stay true to honest feedback and hopefully more little improvements that I know is the standard for The Grounds. Next time we’ll definitely do a Dinner visit!
Went here today at lunch time, the reception is the best. Nice smile and really positive attitude and energy. The restaurant and decorations are really nice. The real downside are wait staffs, and foods. They all looks delicious and really nice but no. Beef brisket is super dry. The rice dish are undercooked rice is still hard. Pork are tasteless. Chicken are alright. Overall, wouldn’t recommend to anyone who’s looking for food but maybe for drinks will be better.
We were very pleased to be able to walk in for lunch. Our meals, deserts and coffees were delicious and satisfying. The decor is warm European and the busy vibe adds quality to the experience. The woman serving us was not 5-star helpful when our Northern Ireland visitor asked for more chips to be added to his steak and frites plate! Other than that, all wonderful.
The interior is striking, with an old-school, vintage and almost apothecary aesthetic. It's a warm Parisian bistro theme, and I like the attention to detail in their glasses and plates/tableware. I ordered their smoked brisket sandwich from the Lunch Menu. It came out quite quickly. I would say the brisket itself inside of the sandwich was average, I wouldn't write home about it. But the spread on the sandwich and especially the onion ring inside was quite tasty. I would have to visit again to judge the savoury food A very cute place to visit so close everything in Town Hall. I would definitely recommend the cake here. My last note would be that I wish there was more Vegan options on the menu to begin with so I could bring my family and friends here
Friendly and timely service. Beautiful and thoughtful decor. A very nice mood is set inside and it was a wonderful experience. Most amazing of all was the food. Usually hyped up places with all this decor lacks in taste and flavors but each and every dish we tried was amazing! This place is the real deal.. the total package. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
Beautiful restaurant. The decorations and furniture of the restaurant were very pleasing to the eye. We came here for breakfast and our food came in a timely manner and the presentation was lovely. Very delicious and filling. The staff were very professional and polite as well. The desserts were great as well, not too sweet and perfect to share after a meal. Our only complaint would be that the strawberry dream latte did not fit the menu description. We ordered 3 iced lattes and one regular, all of which were the strawberry dream however, when it came it appeared to be just a regular latte. We could not taste any hints of strawberry, white chocolate or caramel as stated from the description. Overall a nice experience, would be happy to come back to try lunch and dinner.
We strolled by here on our first night in Sydney looking for a place to have dessert and after dinner drinks. Such an impressive restaurant. When you walk in you are transported to a little Parisian cafe with a little NY city diner thrown in. We sat at the bar and had the best time conversing with the bartender and his apprentice. Drinks and desert were fabulous. We were so impressed we decided to try the Grounds for breakfast on our last day. Coffee and food was fantastic, we each ordered eggs on toast and shared a few sides, all were amazing. The vibe is relaxed even though the restaurant is very busy. They have a lot of staff on so there’s no waiting for anything. Everyone is super friendly.
This place has a really nice atmosphere, it’s very well decorated inside. We both opted for the pancakes which were delicious. I was impressed at the presentation of the iced mocha but it was quite pricey at $7.50. Some of the tables are quite cramped; they originally tried to seat us at a table right beside the tills which most guests also have to walk by so I would try to avoid that one as you’ll have a lot of people brushing against you.
Wow amazing cafe, i came here for a quick bite before an appointment and it was excellent. I ordered a Cap with steak and eggs and was i surprised by the quality of the food really simple and delicious cooked fresh. The staff are friendly and approachable and happy to service you. I loved the Decor nad the feeling in the dining Room definitely worth a try
It’s a cute place located in the centre of the city. Truly suggest to make a booking. They are pretty busy. The place is very cute. Service is amazing. We’ve ordered the lobster Benedict that was pretty good. My coffee was good too. Glad I came here on my last day in Sydney to have lunch with a friend
