I disagree that it needs to be a lot cleaner or modern. Compared to other Australia hostels I stayed at, it was at least average. Excellent location, big, free breakfast, card access to everything. Also, they don't bump their prices up for weekends and events, which is much appreciated. I found a room for $37 or so, on a sold-out weekend when other CBD hostels had their _standard_ dorms at $52+ (robbery!). Fewer perks than some of the hostels in the area, but affordable and probably easier to book. Even if you make friends in the area, their hostel is probably just around the corner.

Booked a six share room, no issues. My mattress was awful but I was given a replacement the next morning after mentioning it to staff which was nice. Room was a little musty and you can hear the noise from the street but neither issue was too bad. Great location, very central with access to lots of tram lines. I would definitely stay again.

Greenhouse backpacker is a good starting point for your adventure in Australia. Not so crowdy, comfortable rooms and a good kitchen inside. There is also a travel desk that help you booking tours and suggest attraction such Great Ocean Road and Philipp Island. Definitely recommended!

Location and price are 5 stars. No need to worry about getting around or from/to airport even at 5AM. Warning. THE WALL IS NOT SOUNDPROOF!!! Be kind to your next door.

A good place to start overnight. Don't expect much. Has a really bad Wi-Fi connectivity.
