The Golden Horseshoe Fish and Chips

My boyfriend and I went to The Golden Horseshoe Fish and Chip shop on Tuesday 27th June 2022. We ordered the budget pack, two dim sims and tomato sauces. We were happy with the food especially the chicken nuggets. Customer service was friendly, kind. Food was nice and we would recommend it for others to try it out. Thank you :

Used to be pretty good. Today the absolute worst fish n chips I have had around here. The potato cakes were so thick with batter I couldn’t find the potato. The fried dim sims all ping in the middle.

Been away for years and was thrilled that The Golden Horseshoe has not changed at all. Great traditional fish and chips, decent prices, very friendly and professional service and the best bit, the original 1980s deco! We had the family pack with flake, dim sims, potato cakes, calamari rings and chips. Of course the obligatory chicken salt included!!

Got the chicken schnitzel burger combo and a chocolate milkshake, definitely worth the money, prices have gone a bit up but the quality is still good Food: 3/5

This is arguably the worst fish and chip shop in existence. What once was an icon in Mill Park is now been in gentrified to suit the demographic. Our shop at uni hill was closed for the holiday and thought we would revisit old times. Burnt potato cakes dry grilled fish brown old oil ridden scallops $73 down the drain AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Love the Onion Rings! They now have Sth Melbourne Vegetarian Dim Sims. Please keep up Vegetarian option as of all the fish and Chip shops there, you are the ones I will talk about. And they are absolutely beautiful. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Dim Sims Burger And lots more

Haven't been there for a while. Looks like its under new management. Brought the 10 fish bites and they were absolutely horrible. Had the chicken burger, that wasn't too bad. Also purchased a grilled flake, it was as thin as paper. Wouldn't be going back there till they improve!

Just received my order – the flake was rubbery and had gristle all through it, and the potato cake was stale and the chips were soft. Unfortunate, as I remeber it being a lot better when I was younger!

If there was an option for minus stars, I'd have chosen that, tonight I ordered dinner,, I did it over the phone, to be picked up in 15 minutes, granted they were busy, so the extra wait was acceptable, my order of 10 nuggets, min chips, i fish souvlaki and 2 meat souvlakis... I get home, and we have 3 fish souvlakis and on all onion and tomato.. One was meant to have no onion or tomato.. anyway I rang them up, to their credit, they replaced the 2 we did not order.. so while i was in the shop, 3 people heard my order, apologies all round from staff, I wave it off thankful for the free replacements.. so 3 heard me say 2 lamb souvlakis, 1 with the lot, 1 without onion and tomato.........I get them home, I open mine up.....NO sauce, all onion and tomato, the other, Ill be honest, I was not willing to open it up. I will not order from them again. my replacement dinner was worse than the first souvlaki. Sadly food scored a miserable zero, but the people themselves very nice and complying to please. There was clearly a language barrier from us receiving a decent takeaway meal, to us getting 5 souvlakis and so far, only 1 was edible. .........Ok update on 2nd free Souvlaki, that was thrown in the bin, my husband said of the 2 bites he took, the second bite, was 1 too many. This is a shame as we tried to support a local business

The cook started crouching over my fish sticks and activated "goblin mode". They tasted incredible.
