This review is about the restaurant/ pub. After a tiring day of tobogganing & snow fun we were pleasantly surprised by the food at the General, specially so late in the afternoon. Food was delicious, the staff are friendly & professional. I never thought I would have one of the best chicken burgers I've ever had on the Alps of Mt Hotham.

Stopped in for a beverage in summer. It was so peaceful on the outdoor seating area looking over the mountain view. Would definitely recommend.

Very friendly, good meals, wide range of beers on tap - also known for great party vibes and events!

We were the only ones in the establishment at 3pm on a Monday which is fair. Grabbed 2 beers and enjoyed the view from the back deck. I can see that this place would be pumping during full ski season, will have to come back then.

Have boogied the night away in winter, but was pleasantly surprised by the summer season hospitality during the Easter break. The coffee was . See you soon in the even colder months!

Stopped for a hot choccy after riding the pushy up from Bright. The atmosphere was good. The guy behind the counter was gruff, but the hot chocolate was good.

Undoubtedly great location for lunch and dinner. Menu I found was a little light on. Burger good quality.  Chips ok. Burger actually comes with chips but it didn't reflect hence ordering a separate side of chips. Little pricey but understandably for the unique location.  Dress warm.

Another great meal at the Genny. Would have been 5 stars but very slow. Can’t blame the cook - he was the only one in the kitchen, doing everything! Well done to him. I am guessing that they are having trouble getting staff…

It’s the place to go. It’s the place to be. It’s the place to be seen. But there is so much more about The General. We came here on a Friday night after the drive up from Melbourne for a weekend of skiing. We got there right on 6 and other tables were full with families. Big kids, little kids, toddlers and babies. They were devouring their pizza and the parents were able to relax somewhat while the kids ate and kept themselves amused. We drank great wine and then ordered dinner. Salmon. Steak. Pizza. It was all delicious. The portion sizes were excellent and taste fabulous. Steak cooked to perfection. Bonus was that the tv was on televising the football. And no doubt it would’ve been televising The Ashes due later that night. There are two parts to The General - upstairs and downstairs. I’m told there is a great decking outside  area but not the season to check it out. We left around 9pm and the place was crazy busy with people. Lots of cheers, catchups, smiles and more. Atmosphere was amazing. A must visit.
