The Flying Pigeon is easily one of the best restaurants in Gisborne. The food is sensational, the staff are attentive, and the prices are very reasonable. A tremendous thank you to the owner Steph who has such has amazing energy, hospitality, and creativity. We look forward to seeing you soon :  Parking: Excellent parking.  Dietary restrictions: One of the only restaurants that I’ve been to that design dishes especially for people on a low FODMAP diet.

Went here for a family birthday. The staff made it easy to bring a cake, which we could have brought out after dinner. The dinner itself was outstanding. The dumplings were all brilliant, but the best were the ones with a laksa dipping sauce. The curries were great too, but again the standout was the lamb curry. Staff were friendly. Absolutely first rate place.

Inside an unassuming frontage  amidst business dwellings, lies a champion of a restaurant.  The food here is exquisite. Truly delicate combining of flavours worth savouring and experiencing. The best vegan curry, dumplings, smashed  potato and eggplant i have had in over a decade.  The  chefs here have paid close attention  to their creations - you can taste the dedication to their craft. Amazing list of cocktails inclusive of very delicious mocktail options too. Have been here for dinner and for lunch. Surprised lunch time  was quiet because if Flying  Pigeon was situated in the inner city it would be booked out ahead of time and charging double the price. Its very reasonable pricing for the culinary expertise  i do believe. Looking forward to returning as soon as possible .  Delicious!  Dietary restrictions: Gluten free vegans are considered and well catered for !

Dined there for the first time tonight for my birthday dinner. It was delightful! Immediate service upon entry with friendly staff, food delivery was quick, the coconut broth for the chicken dumplings was so tasty and the slow cooked pork belly was mouth watering! The coffee and jam donut was en point to finish off! Will be back and also be raving about this new eatery from now on..

The food was delicious and the staff helpful and friendly. We had the tasting menu and it was too much for us to eat. Yummy lunch next day! The only drawback was the noise. There were three large groups and their laughter and generally loud talking was very unpleasant. It really was difficult to have a conversation. The bottle of wine we ordered was off  and it was replaced with another. The meal was expensive at $175 for 2 people, including wine, but it was delicious so perhaps worth it.

Generous hosts, switched on staff and reliably superb food don’t miss the dumplings! define a local Gisborne institution, that also makes a mean cocktail!  Small but good wine list. Highly recommend

I love this place, the most delicious food. And suitable for coeliacs and vegans. Cocktails are very good too. Only thing is it can be quite noisy as not good acoustics for such a popular venue!Food: 5/5

Best dumplings around. Love the asian salad with peanuts. The pork belly noodles are also the bomb.

Brilliant food, the lemongrass dumplings in coconut broth is a highlight, definitely try them!

Delicious food! We got the tasting menu 1 for $40 per head and we enjoyed every bit. The quantity and quality was amazing. Will definitely come back.
