Beautifully cooked fish. Definitely get the box deals, great value and quality then head to Stewart's Bay to sit on beach and eat
A little hidden gem of a place. Located just behind Bellerive Oval, next to the beach, this is a fantastic fish and chips offering away from the usual spots in central Hobart. Well worth a visit. The fish is fresh and well cooked we tried both battered and crumbed - slight preference for the crumbed version. Solid serving of chips and a special shout out to the calamari and crab/seafood sticks these are both really well done - not covered in gluggy batter. Recommended.
Arrived at 7.30pm. Just wanted 3 half serves of chips. Waited a while to get serves but eventually did. Waited until 8.15pm chips to get ready. Didn't seem overly busy, just unorganised. They were turning customers away as they were meant to close at 8 but we were all still waiting for our food. Chips were very very salty and not really hot by the time we got them. Have been before and fish was good but service still only so so at best.
Not worth the money spent. For the same price, I got a better meal elsewhere. We ordered two fish and chips and squid, but the portions were quite small, the squid were literally two rings. Sorry not coming back again.
If I could give this Fish cafe less than 1 star, I would. Fish and chips at 17.00 a serve were awful. The fried fish is the worst I have tasted, even the dog, who normally likes fish wouldn't eat it. Still have a bad taste after eating it 40 minutes later. Chips were ok as was the frozen squid. As a local that lives close by, I realise prices are a bit higher given the sporting location, but the poor quality seafood is an absolute showstopper. Read both the good and bad reviews so was prepared to try as like to support local business; but given the experience I will NEVER be back.
She's a pretty basic little fish and chip shop, where you can also buy market fish to take home and cook yourself. They have a great selection of seafood and to top it off the kids can get a ice cream afterwards.Food: 5/5
Such a great location by the water. Eating here, the food really speaks for itself. The fish wasn’t oily, and the chips were delicious. They weren’t traditional thick potato chips, but I was happy with that as I’m not a fan of that type. By no means is the establishment flashy - as shown in the pics, but take it for what it is. Definitely would return when I’m back in Hobart.
Too expensive, chips half cooked and not very nice for the price. Didn’t bother to get fish when it’s so much cheaper everywhere else. Friendly staff and ok to dine in to beat the weather.
Oysters were very good as was the battered flake and all important chips. Beautiful by the beach although weather was not permitting a 'picnic' dinner. Comfortable booths & great spot for a quick dinnerFood: 5/5
Disgustingly rude attitude from female staff member. Not only towards us but everyone who walked into the store. Wouldn’t hurt her to take some Pride in her customer service and treat people with basic respect and courtesy. Floors are as filthy as her attitude and probably cleaner in the public toilets down the street. Save your money and AVOID.
