Wonderful experience watching Adam's Family play. Incredible work of the director and the actors. Decorations were impressive. Light was awesome! Voices were so powerful. I really enjoyed watching them embrace the music. I'm in love!
Great old theatre with a wonderful tech crew and great backstage facilities. Thank you for the hand made cookies from the friends of The Empire! All of us in the Music Of The Night team really enjoyed performing at this theatre and to the beautiful people of Toowoomba!
All good and gold but , its just the toowoomba city. Where do i even park is issue everytime. Needs better planning and parking areas. The reason i very rarely go to the main city. I am a photographer and its a shame that i don't feel like going there because of parking issues. Cannot compare but just when i was in Toronto it was absolute pleasure to use public vehicles. 5 min walk to bus , then 1 min walk to train and go anywhere in the city. I had monthly pass 126$ CAD per month. And that was the most worth it thing i ever had. Whenever i felt bored even at 10pm in the night , go out wait forn5 - 8 mins into the bus in to the metro and explore until 2pm. And after 2 pm there is night bus gotta wait 20 mins but there is option too.
An iconic Art Deco venue, The Empire is the largest regional theatre in Australia, with a current capacity of 1,565 seats. It features a proscenium arch with colour-changing illumination, along with a classic facade. The building originally opened in 1911 as a cinema and was rebuilt as a theatre in 1933 after a fire that destroyed the original building. The theatre was restored in 1997 by the architectural firm Hassell to integrate modern technical facilities into the historic building.
Not much space to move around and we were not aloud to go out our door 12 for the toilet that was right there and the bar shut far to early well before the show was finished.
