Nestled in a corner in Bell St you’ll find The Eastern Bloc, a turkish cafe. I love coming here. The food is amazing, the cafe experience is very relaxing. It’s near the Coburg Station and the small park/pathway so it has nice view if you sit near the glass window. The menemen is a must try!! Make sure you get it with sujuk if you’re not vegetarian. The nutella gözleme is nice especially on days when you feel like satisfying your morning sweet tooth craving. Their coffee is amazing, you can tell they take their time for every order despite the morning rush for coffee. Cappucinno creamy and their iced mocha is refreshing atleast for me. Definitely try and visit! Owned by such lovely people. You’d love to be a regular here!
Absolutely amazing home made food. Love the just from the ocean freshly baked borek.. I have travelled 45min just to get here to eat one of these . There are many different types.. today cheese and spinach.. don’t miss this place right next door to bell st station on bell street.. original name if this one is Gul Borek … coffee is great too
Breakfast @The_Eastern_Bloc for a relaxing cup of chai latte and a poppy seed bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, baby spinach and tomato. The chai latte is laden with spices, pouring it via the sieve to get 2 cups of the lovely aroma laden chai. This was enjoyed with the delicious bagel creation which is a satisfying way to start the weekend. Visited again for lunch. @The_Eastern_Bloc is a cafe serving some dishes from southern Turkey, one being manti - a Turkish style beef ravioli in a yoghurt sauce These are small little parcels with a slightly chewy mouth feel encasing beef and immersed in a yoghurt sauce which is a little odd due to the sourness. However, a little bowl of chilli flakes is present which when sprinkled over the top makes a big difference. Very tasty meal and something completely different to anything I've eaten. I also picked up a cheese and spinach borek for takeaway which was delicious, lovely flaky pastry, lots of mixer feta and spinach, great combo. Another visit for breakfast - Menemem: Turkish baked eggs, home-made tomato sauce, mild green pepper with garden herbs. Also got the optional sucuk and a Vietnamese coffee. Freezing cold outside, the warm inviting venue is just what I needed. A tray with a glass of ice, dish of condensed milk, and a pot of coffee is presented to assemble the Vietnamese coffee as I like and it is very enjoyable. Next breakfast is served piping hot. The baked eggs are delicious in the capsicum and heb mix. I love the Turkish bread which is great to dip in and soak up the juices but also becomes very filling. The sucuk is shaped like chorizo slices but is the Turkish version of their own salami like cured meat. It's different to anything I've tasted before and thoroughly enjoyed with the eggs. Awesome way to start the day! #Turkishfood #cafe #chailatte #bagel #poppyseed #smokedsalmon #manti #beef #borek #feta #spinach #menemen #bakedeggs #sucuk #coffee #Turkishbread #breakfast #lunch #foodie #melbournefood #coburg @zomatomelb
Love love love this place, wish we had one in Sydney..The cutest little place next to Coburg station... the food was amazing and the staff very friendly...its a must if ever in Coburg Parking: parking is near because of the station...just a short walk to the cafe
This is my nearest local cafe and thank god for that! Best coffee in Coburg, fantastic dishes menemen is my go-to, my husband has a borek or gozleme at least once a week and always the warmest service. The definition of a family-run cafe, I always feel at home here. It doesn’t have the hipster menus of the other spots around here, but everything is delicious and made with love, can’t ask for more than that.
Had a regular size cappuccino from here the other day. The coffee was strong like i asked them for. Loved the interior and i saw some baked treats here but as i was on my travel and my hands were full..couldn’t really get anything more. The server was really chatty and was really friendly. I’d love to try some more of the fresh baked goods soon in the future.
I usually come here for study while sipping a great coffee they make. They have delicious, freshly baked foods. Muffin and spinach borek are my favorites. Friendly service from lovely owners. The pic shows a take away order
The BEST.... drop in for breakfast or a coffee. It's a big call.. but this place has the best coffee in Melbourne. sorry my wife.. coffee is better than yours Relaxed friendly atmosphere and nice set up to eat in Thanks guys Tony and Maria

Great coffee, friendly service and food was good. The hash Benedict looked small but was very filling and tasty.
