We dropped in for lunch today which was absolutely delicious! We were greeted on arrival by the very friendly staff and the tinkling sound of live piano playing. Very refreshing. Food: My husband had the small sirloin steak which was cooked exactly as requested and served with fresh dark green leaf side and fries. He said it was delicious - it certainly looked it! Unusually I chose the beef burger. I was certainly not disappointed because it was so yummy, moist and fresh with tasty garnishes inside. We will definitely call in again for food and refreshments and recommend to others.
What a great experience we had for our 3 night stay. Room was lovely clean and fresh. The food was excellent for both breakfast and dinner but most of all the service was superb. All the staff are attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Chris the manager even ran us in to Woodstock when we couldn't get a taxi. A great experience and I would highly recommend. See you next year guys
Used as an overnight base to visit Blenheim. The rooms were decorated and furnished to a high quality, were spotlessly clean and had very comfortable beds! Great shower too! Had dinner and breakfast too - both were good quality, and thoroughly enjoyed. Staff were friendly and welcoming. All in all a very enjoyable stay, would happily recommend
We ate here for the second time recently and it delivered again. It's a real find because it's in a location near a main road where you wouldn't really expect such great, home made food. It really is worth a visit. The home made pie was outstanding in my opinion! Veggie options are good too. The chef here is good, very good.
Staff couldn't be nicer and the service was very good. And genuine with it. The single carriageway road was a little busy, but our room was double glazed so no problem. Nice sitting out area for drinks etc. Handy for Woodstock and surrounding area; a few minutes drive. Woodstock is a charming village and worth a visit .
We booked last minute as we had a friends NYE party to attend in nearby Chipping Norton. We had two dogs with us as couldn't arrange a dog sitter in time. The team were very friendly and helpful and the room was great. The pub/restaurant was fabulous and the food incredible. Thank you so much!
We had a meal here on New Year’s Day and I’m sorry to say it was extremely disappointing. We were a large group so we had had to prebook all our food. Even so, when we arrived nothing was brought out until an hour later. The portions are pretty meagre Two slices of bread for £6… and the food just wasn’t good. The roasts were pretty sparse and the meat had clearly been cut a while back. It was very dry. They brought the veggies out as sides in little ramekin dishes in dribs and drabs, failing to explain that there wouldn’t be one per person, so most people didn’t actually get any veg. Probably not a shame in hindsight as it was completely tasteless. The grilled plaice is possibly the worst fish I’ve eaten anywhere. It was absolutely smothered in butter. If I’d wanted a greasy scrap of fish I’d have gone to a fish and chip shop and I wouldn’t have paid £17.50 for it. As for the fish itself, there was barely any to speak of. The whole fish couldn’t have been more than 150g with the head and bones and all. The best thing was that about half of it wasn’t even meat. It was just the eggs, which had a very strong smell and frankly the whole dish was completely off-putting. This dish should be taken off the menu. After finishing our mains we then sat and waited for over 40 minutes with the dirty dishes in front of us and the disgusting fish smell for someone to clear the table and bring the desserts. Nobody did, so we had to go and ask. Several people were in a rush as they had long drives home but they wouldn’t let us cancel so much as an olive without charging it anyway. The desserts were very pretty average. Mine appeared to have clumps of flour in it. In short, I would not recommend this place as a restaurant if you have any sort of standards about what you eat. It’s bar far the worst place we ate during our stay and the service was very poor.
I stayed here with my other half to celebrate my birthday and because we were visiting Bicester Village which is about a 20 minute drive away. This B&B is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous and the service was 10/10. I did not catch the waiters name but he found out it was my birthday and put a candle in my toast and butter! They were so accomodating too, letting us have late check out for free because I did not feel too well. I would highly recomend this lovely place.
Had Sunday roast here and was super impressed. Everything was delicious, service was lovely and the pub is charming. Definitely my go to now for a Sunday roast!
