Went in for some chocolate and cheese. Old mate decided to be "cheeky" and lecture me about how I "should" eat cheese with sourdough instead of crackers. My dude, I am good with how I want to eat cheese, I did not ask. Old mate then decides to swap out our jalsburg for a different piece, and oh, get home to find it is mouldy. Jalsburg shouldn't be mouldy. Sigh. That was supposed to be a nice treat as I am recovering from a serious injury, and instead was a lecture and expensive expired cheese. Sad story, and stories about cheese should always be happy. : The chocolate was decent though.
An amazing little place! Really well priced!
A beautiful little deli run by passionate people. I'm new to the area and have felt welcomed and appreciated, even when I only make a small bread purchase. They won me over once I discovered they stocked Boks Bacon and small good products, beautiful Tasmanian artisan bacon! It's always a pleasure shopping here and somehow I end up leaving with more and more each time :
Very good range, quality, and service, owner is quite willing to order/trial suitable products that align with the ethos of the shop. Charcuterie is sliced and wrapped carefully. If anything you may have to wait a while as the shop is popular and they don’t rush the packaging. Having read the negative comments I suggest those seeking Kraft Singles, discount chicken baked in a plastic bag etc.; please try Woolworths just up the road...
Love this place! The selection of meats/ cheese here is good, and Iggy's bread is one of my favourites.
Came across this place today, what a find! They stock country valley milk and cream, Iggy's bread, and all sorts of other gourmet goods including imported cheeses and charcuterie. Also spotted some sandwiches and fancy looking pies. The man inside is very lovely and happy for a chat.
I have just returned from Erskineville Deli and am upset and angry at the rude and belligerent customer service I have received. We have used this deli weekly during lockdown. Choosing to shop local rather than get our products from super markets. Nick the owner was rude from the outset. Nobody was at the counter when I arrived so I waited about 5 minutes and politely called hello, to get someone’s attention. When he came out he asked if I wanted to be served, and told it was his choice if he would serve me or not as “the owner” I asked for some nduja to add to the nduja we bought from the deli last week. I needed 20g more recipe required. From the moment I said this, Nick began asking what I do for a living, telling me that we as “white people” need to be careful when using small business. How what I was asking for would put him out of business. He also patronisingly asked me what I studied and did for a living. He came across incredibly aggressive. This was not the end of my order not that it mattered but I decided to walk out and not make a purchase. I was a woman alone in his shop, who felt uncomfortable, patronised and verbally attacked.I highly doubt he would have spoken to a man this way. Needless to say we will not be using this business again.
Very lucky to have live near this little deli. A true family operation, everyone that serves you here is helpful, passionate and friendly. A good selection of cured meats, cheeses and other deli standards plus fresh, locally baked breads, tinned fish, long life products and pantry staples like pasta, rice, stock and sauces, even steaks, mince and sausages. Between here and the grocer across the street you’d almost never need to go to a supermarket again
I bought a vegan sandwich last week and it was delicious. Today I bought a ham sandwich and it was the most delicious sandwich I’ve ever tasted.
Really disappointing attitude to a customer. I asked for 8 slices of double smoked ham which then became a small massacre. The pieces were dropped on to the paper. No care taken with the presentation. When I questioned this the response was defensive. I then asked for a piece of cheese and was given the end piece when there were middle pieces available. Service is everything and clearly I bothered them.
