Waited 30 minutes for a piece of toast with 5 people working the counter. Granted it was lovely toast but hardly worth the wait. All of the sandwiches were sold out at 12:30. Perhaps the Coogee and drinks are a better bet?
Friendly staff, I got the avocado toast which was very tasty, real butter and fine salt + a coffee with a view over the beach and the pool. What else ! Can get very crowded 9-12pm. Highly recommend !
5 star view to over look the ocean, and Bondi beach, and have a coffee. Food is very average. You're really there just for a view with a friend or a loved one over a coffee if you get seated in a good spot. Very limited seating. You'll be overlooking Bondi Iceberg pool swimmers and passers by from the gym and sauna. Relaxing spot for a coffee.
The view is incredible but… the place is okay. Not the best hot chocolate I’ve had, not too bad either. As I’m vegan and I don’t eat any dairy, I’ve brought my own vegan croissants and the owner didn’t quite like it, apparently it was too hard for him to understand that people can’t or don’t want to eat a certain type of food. It’s called tolerance, and it should be a priority over money, just saying. I should of gotten a take away or… nothing at all.
Zero food hygiene! The incredibly rude staff left us underwhelmed and incredibly frustrated. The woman cooking our toasties that took 25 minutes was eating and then wiping her mouth with her hand before going back to preparing peoples food ! After I finally got our two toasties another employee said “one of those isn’t yours” and proceeded to grab it from my hand. the other staff member corrected her showed her the order, no apology, I stood stunned at the sheer audacity! Terrible coffee, cold and bitter and all was over priced in general. Do yourself a favour and pack your lunch
Similar to many of the patrons' reviews here - unpleasant experience. I hardly leave negative reviews as I personally always feel that experiences aren't that bad to warrant one as it could be damaging to the business and/or it could be an isolated incident. But this one surely left a sour taste in our holiday. Came recently with my 6months pregnant wife and our 3y.o. boy. Bondi beach and ICEBERG are must visits in Sydney so we came happy and giddy with excitement. My 6m pregnant missus didn't swim so she sat in this cafe and we ordered a smoothie 10 aud or 15 aud I forgot and a slice of cake for her while she waited for me and my boy who were swimming. As travelling with kids goes, my 3 y.o boy is a picky eater and has specific diet so we brought our homecooked pasta for him. The owner then came told my 6m pregnant wife and 3 y.o boy off muttering 'I'm here to make money, no outside food etc' along the lines. 1st time i acknowledged that by smiling back and nodded so i went and ordered another dessert as a sign of acknowledgement. It then happened again where he came telling my family off while i was down at the pool swimming. We wanted to order some more but when he came over and unreasonably raised his tone and sounded us again it broke the straw for us. Fact is: 1 we are paying customers ordered and paid; 2 there weren't event a long que with no other available tables, there were many empty tables and seats, we would understand if there were other patrons waiting to get a seat. We would either order more or leave the table for other customers; 3 owner could really speak in a cordial manner, I am not even asking for him to be friendly, but the sounding and telling off was really unnecessary, not to mention to a 6months pregnant lady customer with a 3y.o child. I stand corrected, I may be wrong. But this is a very 'human' business premised on 'human' factor which with a little bit of friendliness and warmth goes a long way. He couldnt even give a bit of leeway for a 3yo child? It's not like we didn't order any food and drinks. Perhaps the owner Andrew? need some business acumen here - he kept repeating he's 'there to make money' but doing business this way? Bad reviews are what the place will be getting continuously. The other similar negative reviews here echoes my experience and you will see that the owner is a very argumentative person. Look at the replies he gives to negative feedbacks, I am betting he may come and have another go at my comment here later. This is one of Sydney's most iconic spots and best. Is this the best Sydney can offer, I beg to differ. Like many others noted here - it deserves a better cafe. Very disappointing experience.
Stay away from Andrew possibly the owner if he is there don’t expect any service. In a space of 30 mins he was not even my server I ordered a coffee and toastie not bad Bondi pricing, not great taste but can’t beat the location!! Now to focus on Andrew’s attitude. Rude comment on the way I looked, told me right after I had finished my food that the space was only for people eating and drinking… to my left and right were customers who had also just finished that he turned a blind eye too since they seemed to all know each other. Don’t bring your laptop either as he made my experience really uncomfortable while he pointed out his small self made sign that he doesn’t like laptops. All in the space of 30 mins. This guy needs a holiday because Bondi has him stressed out.
One barista would not allow me to sit at the benches in front of the cafe unless I paid for something, even though there was no one sitting there and many other tables were open. Even though I had paid to enter the pool, she was winging about the cafe's 'expensive rent.' Overall bad experienceFood: 2/5
Croissant availability: 3 - plain, chocolate and almond croissant. Pistachio and chocolate scroll. Only 6 items on display in total. Croissant freshness and crispiness: 3 - ok for crispiness and taste Warmed up? No, not offered. Yes for the banana bread served with butter. Serving time: cappuccino arrived shortly after the food. Cappuccino: 2 - could have had more foam Other sweet food availability: 2 - banana bread but no muffins Spot in the sun? Yes, with a great view
Great spot to enjoy the surf, watch swimmers and surfers alike, and enjoy a good cup of Mothersky Coffee.
