Gorgeous balcony view with mouth watering food!! This restaurant uses local stores and produce while also growing some of their own produce for drinks/meals. Very lovely, prompt service with complimentary starter. We opted for two course meals. My partner got the entree/main while I had main/dessert. My partner had the mushroom risotto and Beef tenderloin & short cut rib. I ordered the pork loin and cheesecake. Everything was amazing! I do wish the dessert was a bit bigger as it was delicious. Will definitely return. Not sure if there is sufficient parking if it's a busy night. There are 3x spots directly outside the restaurant, but unsure if there's any other nominated parking area available. Also note, there is a 5% surcharge Saturday and 10% surcharge Sunday. Overall, a must try!!
Impressive fine dining experience with a super friendly feeling. I went with the 4 course chef’s recommendation and had an additional pork belly starter. Every single dish was the perfect culinary experience. New flavours and creative dishes. My favorite was the perfect ribeye main with an incredible tasting truffle mash, a steak cooked to perfection with a taste to die for and with the best selection of vegetables with delicious tastes from torched baby corn to an amazing sauce on the baby broccoli and green leafs. When you add this to the views - it’s the perfect lunch experience. The photos speak for themselves…
It’s great to have some fine dining options on the Coast. Had a mid-week lunch here, the food was great, the wine pairing was well done, and the view amazing. Really liked the cocktail of the day which was a gin sour with Australian native spices. We’ll definitely be back here to try other things on the menu as the seasons change.
It was a beautiful winter's day and fortunately we had a seat on the balcony to soak in the beautiful elevated view over Terrigal. The menu was fine dining with lots of combinations that are unique but all of which we liked. We opted for the three course menu and liked every course. The courses could have come out closer together for our liking but, with that view, who cares. If we return to Terrigal we would definitely go to The Cowrie again.
We had an amazing experience at the Cowrie Restaurant. The team was wonderful and welcoming, the food was fantastic with full of local ingredients. The waitress was exceptional and knowledgeable! We recommend the menu with matching wines! You won't regret it!!! We loved how the team was passionate about working together with local producers! Thank you to the team at Cowries for making our day special! So worth driving out of Sydney, just to visit this restaurant!!! We will be back!!
A restaurant that services Plant Based Food! Thank you The Cowrie for your amazing menus to choose from. No longer does my husband struggle to find something that he can eat. Every time we have been to your restaurant the food, drinks and service have been amazing. Will definitely be back.
Food: Amazing delicious chef prepared dishes. In fact, some of the herbs and vegetables used were literally grown at the back of the restaurant. Five stars! Service: Great service. The staff is friendly, professional, and quite informative. Five stars! Cost: We had 5 people opting for 2 courses each, a couple of side dishes, and a couple of non alcoholic drinks were ordered and the bill was approx. $500 which is reasonable for a top tier restaurant. Five stars! Comfort: Which includes parking, space, etc. I would give this venue 4 stars maximum. There were 3 available spots right in front of the venue, for the rest of the diners, you have to look for parking close to it. For someone that’s not familiar with the area, it took me a while to find a spot, the speeding locals that don’t seem to obey the 50 speed limit doesn’t help when they tailgate you while you’re trying to find a parking spot. The venue was not using air conditioning but relying on the natural sea breeze which is normally great because it’s all natural but when it’s humid and hot outside, it also slightly affects the temperature inside the venue. The toilet is quite tiny, probably the tiniest I’ve seen so far. The absolute maximum without invading someone’s personal space while they’re doing their business would be 2. One would be preferable. This restaurant would easily have been a five star review but I just can’t overlook the lack of parking spaces especially when it’s a hot and humid day. 4.5 stars in total but google don’t give half stars.
The food is good. The service from SOME wait staff is good. We've been 3 times and the service was only good once. Firstly, they got the name of the booking wrong. The waitress we had had no idea about the menu. She also made it very awkward when we paid the bill by asking us to tip, "any amount," or nothing. The food was GREAT! The food has always been GREAT! Definitely worth the food but not the service. If you're paying these prices, you expect good friendly service and extensive knowledge about the menu. Some of the wait staff are absolutely fantastic! This could be an amazing restaurant with a knowledgeable and friendly wait staff.
Under new ownership and management but just as amazing as ever. We came years ago for our first ever valentine’s and been back since then with the in-laws and now with our toddler for our wedding anniversary. From start to finish it was an exceptional dining experience and the food and wines were magnificent. Thanks to Michael, Dimitri and the rest of the team there; we are very choosey and all expectation surpassed. Highly recommended. We’ll be back.
Second time I visited, last was in August at night. Their seasonal menus are very well crafted. This lunch was remarkably complex and yet light, including superb tenderloin and short ribs and the other entree the best cod I have ever had. The cheese selections were terrific and the desserts were amazing. And as last time, very subtle and accurate suggested wine pairings. But the best part? The view!! Which we could guess at last time and we were right!!! A couple going should aim for the front left table on the veranda, one of the most romantic mixes of view, food and overall style one could ask for! Would be a great place to propose to someone…!
