Very nice store, nice selection of products. If you don't have jars you can use the ones available there, you can also donate jars to be reused. There's a cafe and a restaurant too and the food is delicious, usually a vegan option. We had rice with daal and a vegetable curry and it was really good, tasted like homemade food. House brewed chai was also delicious. Friendly staff and great service.
Have been looking for a food store that focusses on ethical and sustainable products, supports local producers & the community, and where i can bring my own containers and buy just the amounts i need. The Food Co-op does all this and more!
Love the free dinner on Sundays, usually starts around 6 pm so get in a little early as there's always a line now. The food is incredible and they have the best bread. Bring Tupperware just in case they have leftovers! A really good spot to study as well, very welcoming and lovely atmosphere. Love the people who work/volunteer there, most importantly be kind!
$7 food for students, a big bowl of food, $4 for refilling it. Beautiful people work there, very nice and friendly vibe, books to read, definitely go there more often
The Food Co-op is a fantastic place to buy your essential cooking and cleaning products without any of the waste the supermarket makes. There's a nice space to hang out and have a coffee and they host many fabulous events. It's a great space to hire. They've got a great community built around them and they have good ethics. Everyone is super friendly too!
First time visit. Great store with helpful staff that are all volunteers. Loved I can buy milk in my own bottles. Even scored a free lunch when became a member. Food was amazing. Will be back next week.
Lovely spot for a coffee and to pick up some groceries. Delicious and affordable vegan lunches. Some items sold by weight. Plastic free, bring your own container and buy as much as you need! They have lots of recycled containers and jars you can use aswell.
One of the better cafes in Canberra especially if you are a starving student trying to get by on tuppence a day. Combines a good health food store with a decent coffee and lunch spot. Most of the servers are volunteers swapping hours for food so don't be too hard on them. Great collection of odd magazines, posters and objects. Outside you can pick up a cheap, functioning junk bike for getting around.
An institution for almost 50 years. Not only a great place to stock up on bulk ethical foods, get a coffee or tea and cakes. Has great live music too.
Interesting post-Cuban revolution meets inner Melbourne student union décor. Communal style vegetarian lunches are brilliant. The coffee is always amazing. Cake and desserts are always good, we always feel that we are stealing from the proletariat when ordering some. The health food shop has lots of imported and domestic wet and dry goods, they are a bit pricy but otherwise are fine. Definitely worth the visit.
