I have added The Cheese Barn at Matatoki to my list where I will take any overseas visitors who stay with us. The cheese is delicious, the staff very friendly and it's not over-priced like so many of these types of places. I took my mother and two young sons on a Sunday morning. It took 15 minutes from Paeroa. It was very quiet. We ordered a cheese board for two. Between two adults and a four and seven year old, there was plenty. It cost $20.00. There are a few animals to feed and plenty of space for the kids to run around safely. The best thing though - I found my new favourite coffee place. My short black was THE BEST I have ever had. And I drink a lot! I left with plenty of cheese, including their award winning cumin seed organic Gouda. Highly recommended!

A pleasant surprise. More than nice cheese. There were also goats, alpacas, rabbits, and guinea pigs for the kids to pat and feed. Don't drive to fast or you'll miss the turn off.

Great little spot for lunch and coffee. Their meat pies had a nice flakey crust and tasty filling, and I believe most of their food is made from scratch. They serve all the usual NZ coffee options, and they have a great view of the surrounding farm. It's a really nice, cozy place. They also have a good wine selection. It's located on the farm, so you get the chance to see some of their animals. The picnic tables are right along some of the sheep, and they have a few cages scattered around the front with guinea pigs. There are also some bird cages near the back. Overall, it's a very scenic and homey place. Definitely recommend!

A nice place for family to relax when you are cycling. And the animals are cute.

Lovely atmosphere, yummy coffee and date scone. We got some award winning cheese too!
