Chinese style seafood and Peking duck. I’m still drooling thinking about these dishes that I grew up eating. Though a bit pricey and service is not on a high standard, the nostalgia hits too hard for me to focus on anything else but the food. Though extremely flavourful be prepared to drink lots of water all night due to the magic ingredient most Asian restaurants use.
The food was great and a wonderful option for us when we stayed at The Star. It's external location at The Star alongside the light rail and carpark adds to its convenience and less hustle and bustle relative to the options inside The Star.
Probably the only "fancy" Chinese restaurant in Sydney which actually serves authentic Chinese food specifically, Cantonese food. Highly recommend the Pipis with vermicelli noodle base, as well as steamed fish canto classic!. They also serve Pigeon which is very uncommon here, but it was very good. You need to order the right things, I would stick with Cantonese dishes and avoid ordering anything non Cantonese or Western "Chinese" e.g. Honey Chicken or Salt Pepper Calamari. This is typical advice for Chinese restaurants to avoid being disappointed, but applies especially here as it's quite pricy. One of the misses we had was the Roast Duck. If you're not sure, I would try going with a big group and ordering the Banquet. Waiter told me it's optimised for western tastes. Service was pretty good at least for Chinese speaker and the venue is fairly nice. If you're looking to eat nice high quality Cantonese food in a fairly nice venue, this is the place. Literally miles above other fancy, un-authentic "Chinese" restaurants like Mr Wong.
Great food but extremely over priced compared to other places within the casino. The S&P calamari were bland and flavourless We had a booking for a table of 10 for 9:30pm and were seated at 9:55 to be then told we must order everything at once as kitchen closes at 10:30pm. Not a great experience to be rushed and not told until after being seated.
Quite expensive for the food portion, but its good for experience, good serve and 50/50 for the taste, shocked me at last, we need to pay for the water haha around 28$ for a bottle
Great Chinese food inside the Star Casino. The menu reads like a novel and it takes a long time to choose your dishes. The wine menu is also massive and has some great wines.
Terrible female staff at the bar tonight, very rude! Be carefully for the surcharge! We are been forced by the lady to pay 10% tips on top of additional 10% Holiday surcharge for the total bill. We are happy to pay all those if we have been provide the average service. This lady at counter said she cannot give us the tax invoice. I politely ask three times for the tax invoice/ bill. She point to my face and yelling to me which is very rude and not understandable. The average spending is about $220/per person This should never happy here!
Over market price with rude altitude and salty food. Bought half Peking duckaround $30but only got 4 pcs of duck meat and 4 pcs duck meat lettuce roll. Was looking at the drink menu one of the the waiter stood by and was super inpatient even making impolite noisy for no reason. Another staff came and ask for our opinions, we made a recommendation that some dishes are really salty. He just said that he has nothing to do with this except giving us a bowl of water to wash and dilute??? Then why came and asked for doing nothing? Seems he hasn't been well trained and very unprofessional. Anyway, not recommend and won't visit here anymore.
Food was quite nice, the atmosphere was busy and quite everywhere. We ordered some drinks but they were returned as they had no flavour for the cost price and the mocktails also. Staff assisted where needed but was at times hard to find staff as we were at the back of the restaurant.Food: 4/5
Overatted. Had the steamed barramundi which had an undercooked and slimy texture. The honey chicken was too sweat and tasted like crumpets. The dumplings were too thick and tasteless. Mongolian lamb was good. The service was slow.
