This place seriously has the best steaks I have ever eaten. I had a rib eye and my partner had eye fillet. The best steaks are here. I have eaten steaks at some of the finest steakhouses in Canberra and other parts of Australia but the steak here wins hands down there is no comparison. If you are in the area and want a good steak this is the only place to go.

The owner Tony and his brilliant staff are what made our stay awesome. Room and bathrooms were good and clean and just what we needed. We got a light breakfast to start us off on our day too. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Thanks so much everyone.Rooms: 4/5

We came in for a quick lunch Good Friday. Service and food top notch. Scotch fillet with mushroom gravy excellent. The gravy didn't at all taste like the usual packet mix. Wife loved the barramundi special. Can't wait to come back, worth the drive from Sydney.Service: 5/5

Netty. Was. Here. Undisputedly the best place to get steaks in Newcastle. High quality marble scores, a variety of cuts, 100% Australian sourced beef.  I had the sirloin as recommended by the chef as the preferred cut to cook medium rare. It was, like all the times I’ve eaten here before; PERFECT!  Beautiful table settings both indoors and outdoors. Always a popular spot so I do recommend making bookings. Or be like me and hook in as soon as the kitchen opens.

Hey guys, thanks for providing quick, friendly service. This place is extremely instagramable too, very beautifully decorated, just stunning. Only thing is that the food was a bit of a hit and miss and bland, we had the chicken parmy and the tandoori vege pizza. We just know that the Napoli sauce could of been seasoned better  even just add more salt  Not sure what the pizza is missing but it needs something  maybe herbs in the tandoori sauce . Sorry to say. We gave a 5 star in hope that you take this constructive criticism on, people improve all the time. Best of luck

Room was very spacious and clean, beds very comfortable. Bathroom very clean and access to the light breakfast was a great idea. Great location. Was disappointed with the meal. The ‘triple cooked chips’ were hard, the steak was ok, I asked for medium and got rare. I was so looking forward to the steak and was a bit let down. The stairs to the accommodation let’s a lot of noise float through.

Amazing Staff!  Recently we had a 30th Birthday at the Burwood and I couldn't speak more highly about the staff and the space.  The staff at the bar, the staff assigned to the party and the kitchen were all amazing. So easy to deal with, friendly and professional. All other establishments should be taking notes.  The space provided out the back was great with plenty of room but also plenty of seating.  Just a great space, very beautiful.  And the food was delicious.  I would go back to the burwood for the service alone.  Do yourself a favour and go have a drink at this hidden gem.

Great meals for pub! Steaks, steak sandwiches, also attentive customer service.  Reasonably priced well cooked meals as well as reasonable selection of tap drinks.

Such a beautiful venue! We had my daughters christening lunch here- a group of around 20 people. They kindly allocated us the beautiful courtyard all to our selves. Everyone commented on how nice the courtyard was and also how delicious the food and drinks were.  The service was great also! So glad we chose to have our event here :

Brought the family for an impromptu dinner out. We were seated out the back near the courtyard and it was a huge improvement to our previous visit where we were seated near the bar the bar area is VERY noisy. The oysters natural were lovely and fresh and the family enjoyed their steaks. still a bit pricey for a restaurant in a pub
