The Burleigh

Best pies in the whole of NZ. Truffle pie actually had truffle taste to it, jerk chicken and Jamaican lamb all lived up to their name. Pies $7 each.

Spent the night in Blenheim so I could get up and catch the Interislander to the North Island the next day. Burleigh Gourmet Pies seems to rate well so headed in for breakfast. I selected the Mince, Jalapeno and Cheese and the Steak and Blue Cheese. First up the Mince JC. The size was the smallest pie so far in New Zealand at just 204 grams but the price at $NZ7.00 is not too bad. Pastry was good and I am finding that this normal in New Zealand. The bakeries certainly know how to create great pie pastry. This pie had lots of jalapenos nestled on the top of the mince but there was no visible sign of cheese. Could not taste any either. Regardless, the pie was very nice and I enjoyed it a lot. A solid 8/10 pie. Next up the Steak and Blue Cheese. The next smallest pie in New Zealand so far at 211 grams, also $NZ7.00. One benefit of a smaller pie is that I don’t feel so guilty eating two. Again, the pastry was on point. The filling was very good. The steak pieces could have been a bit bigger but I am being a bit fussy now. The blue cheese quantity was about right and the overall flavour was great. This was 8.8/10 pie. I do like blue cheese though so not everyone would appreciate this pie.

A satisfying pie experience! I thoroughly enjoyed the steak and blue cheese The steak filling was generous and high quality none of the gristly bits you often find in inferior pies!. The blue cheese was a delightful twist on the classic which they also sell. My wife found the vege pie as being quite tasty... especially with a big wad of feta in it. If you like pies, you need to get here

Best pies ever! Tried the Lamb Curry and Mush Truffle Steak pies good portion of meat/pie ratio. Absolutely recommend!

So good we went three days in a row. Had the pork belly, steak and blue cheese, and steak, mushroom, and truffle. Flavorful fillings, tender meat, and flakey dough. Rod, the “pie minister” is awesome. Gave us great tips for things to do in Blenheim.

Outrageously good pies. I’m a bit in shock at how good that pork belly pie was…Also had the spicy jerk chicken and have the lamb curry and steak/Stilton ready for later. So good

The pork belly pie is everything you'd want from a pie and more. Firmly in my personal Top 3 best pies of all time. My only complaint is that the Burleigh's alll the way in Blenheim and are open limited hours on the weekend Saturdays only. I'd still go out of my way for one of their pies though.

The best pork belly pie I've ever had, plain and simple. S&C with Truffle is hella good as well. Don't think you can miss if you try any of the others but these two are definitely my favourite.
