The hostel itself is quite nice with a cute little backyard with a hammock: The manager was super welcoming and helpful. Bad rating because of the residents: Very loud in the evening, getting drunk... Didn't make me feel very safe, especially as a woman sleeping in a mixed gender dorm.Rooms: 1/5
Myself and 6 of my friends booked in to stay here for 7 nights. We booked a dorm room so were Ofcourse prepared for the possibility of other people in our room. However, when we arrived we were met with a lady who was completely unsafe to be around and made us all young 19 year old girls feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. We got back to our room after 5 hours of being out and after only 5 minutes of quietly chatting this lady had a massive go at us and said very horrible things. We all honestly felt like our belongings and us were unsafe with her in the room. We took our concerns to the office and the office lady was absolutely lovely and super helpful and got the owner to come down to resolve the situation. Although the office lady - who I believe is the junior manager - was lovely, the owner was not and completely disregarded our situation and said that we were ‘overreacting’. We have the interaction with the dangerous lady on video so have concrete proof that we were not safe and that we were not overreacting. The owner then proceeded to say that this lady was not dangerous and that she would not do anything, to which I replied with ‘everyone is harmless until they actually DO something’. To which she replied with we were overreacting. The service that we received from this owner was absolutely appalling as we were in a dangerous situation and could not be on the same premise as this dangerous lady. They did not kick her out, so we packed our bags and stayed elsewhere. I recommend that if you want somewhere to stay where you feel safe that you do not stay here. If you want management that will listen to you in an unsafe situation do not stay here.
Myself and 6 other girls had rented a 8 dorm room for over a week, another lady was already in the room as she had booked the last bed. At first no issues we said hello and put our stuff away tidy and went to the beach for over five hours we returned at 7:30pm and put our phones on charge and the lady in the room yelled at us for talking we had just entered the room we asked to come to a compromise and have a ten o’clock no noise or even 9:30 however she became more aggressive and made us feel unsafe, brought one of my friends to tears, straight away brought it up to management and the duty manager was very understanding and was absolutely lovely to us however the owner was a different story we had to wait until 10:30pm for the owner to arrive and she spoke to three of my friends so disgustingly that we left the premises and had to find new accomodation. Calling us dramatic and that we were blowing things out of proportion and saying that she has never hurt anyone before, the family in the next room had to defend us. Absolutely disgusting treatment from the owner will never be back again
Nice little hostel! Staff was super friendly and even gave me a free bike to use, the beds and facilities were good! The only downside is that it's quite a walk to get to the city center.Rooms: 4/5
We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom in the outer building. The staff were great, the room was spacious and the bathroom and toilets were exceptionally clean. Quite a few people live here and so treat the place like their home. Its a very male dominated crowd with the residents, worth bearing in mind if you’re a female and maybe solo travelling and think you may feel uncomfortable in such an environment. They have 2 kitchens which are nice. The microwave in one kitchen doesnt work but not a big issue. The private rooms would be nicer if they had a small tv maybe but nevertheless, great value for money. 25minute walk away from the city/intercity bus stop and ubers are hard to come by, so if you have a big backpack it can be a tiring walk but not the end of the world.
Price is fair and very affordable for a backpacker. Staff are very friendly. Toilets are clean when we went there.Service: 5/5
Stayed in a 8 bed room, not a bad stay. The kitchen is very small and so is the lounge area. The yard is pretty nice too. "Free breakfast" consists of a few types of bread, some jam, and peanut butter. Not terrible but personally I wouldn't call it breakfast. The place is quite clean and good quality but it isn't my favorite place because it seems a little cramped. Super friendly staff though!
Nice quite environment. Cleanliness of showers/toilets could be improved with some mouldy bits in shower and on shower curtains. Some kitchen appliances not working. Lots of food storage space. Friendly cat & staff. Bed sheetspillows and covers are not changed after customers use so they are quite smelly. Free parking and on street parking too. No free breakfast as on booking.com or no freebies as advertised on their website bike rides - all broken, laundry, breakfast. Rubbish in the garden
Only 5 car spaces, pretty outdated, no towel provided, doesn't seem to wash the duvet between different guest uses this is unhygienic, in my opinion, especially since Covid still lingers. 4/10 comfortable double two single beds pushed together, two pillows each was nice. The London room door is difficult to open/shut, had a weird smell, and was stuffy. Toilets/showers were okay enough. Would not particularly recommend, nor stay again. Would be great for someone who's not super picky and looking for somewhere cheap.
A lot changed after my last visit. We picked it because I loved the place with its unique theme. Roughly 8 years ago the hostel was sold and with it its lovely soul and atmosphere. The kitchen need some work as well as the rooms and the garden. What was once a nice calm retreat is now merely a loud smokers beergarden. What a pity. EDIT: I told the manager/reception about the stoves, the problems with the oven were well known when we chatted about it and I got no reply about the dysfunctional shower.
