Undoubtedly biased as I have worked with the Freeman's for 5 years. They have invested much time and effort into their latest restaurant after leaving Lyttelton. The hospitality is superb, the pizza oven is an amazing installment to what they previously used. The staff are incredible and friendly.
Very good coffee. Nice range of foods to eat in and take away, including some fab gluten free options. My wife loves the salads from this place.

I have been to "The Birdwood" few times already. For me, the best Polenta starter and Pizza in town. I am a pizza lover and I have to say that they have the best base and ingredients, you won't be disappointed. The environment and service is great. MUST visit if you are in Christchurch.
Ordered a simple vegetarian pizza and a main ingredient was left off - truffle oil. When I told the waitress she went off and returned saying the chef was sorry. No recompense in any way, with a shrug saying it was only truffle oil. I shan’t be back.
Delicious pizzas and super thick cut hot chips. Always busy so pays to book ahead. We’ve dined in twice and had take away once. Consistently well made and fresh food. Staff are great and have good humour. Good vegetarian and vegan options. Located in an unassuming street. Writing this review is making me feel like having pizza again!
Gorgeous place for coffee and breakfast or a lovely pizza in the evening. The staff are always helpful and the atmosphere is nice and easy going. Our takeaways during level 3 lockdown from The Birdwood were so good we've been back several times. Best hot chocolates ever.
Our go-to cafe. Great coffees and meals. Love all the staff - everyone is friendly and welcoming.
