About

Drink Beer, Have Fun.

Story

Situated in the Northern suburbs of Wollongong, The Beaches Hotel is only a few minutes drive from the bottom of Bulli Pass, in the heart of Thirroul. The Beaches Thirroul is an award winning hotel which offers a range of food & entertainment. Enjoy a meal or cold drink in the sunny open beer garden.

There's plenty on at the hotel, the highlights being the weekends that are packed full of entertainment.

Saturday live music is alive and happening. Saturday nights see a range of cover bands from the gong and abroad rock the night through. Now with our "brand new" stage, bands are even more convinced it's the best live music venue in the Illawarra.

Then Sunday we have our famous blues sessions. Another of the desired gigs in the illawarra, our guests can enjoy some of the best blues in the country and see some of Australia's leading musicians as they pass through town.

Lunch was average as the fish was just Flake. Didn't taste great, but generous portion. Salad was nice. Time to update some of those wooden tables and benches too. Friends steak sanger looked pretty good though.Hotel highlightsQuiet
We went there 2 weeks ago on a Friday night to watch the band Face to Face Angels show and have some dinner. Unfortunately they had ran out of pizzas but the calamari and salad were delicious . The calamari was cooked perfectly and the salad was one of the best salads I have ever had. Hope to get back there again soon.Service: 4/5
Went for a birthday dinner and show. Good service, delicious food I got the pork belly and everyone's buzzer in my group went off before the estimated time we'd been given. Cocktails were well-made and Jules made sure everyone was well-looked after even on a really busy night!
Great tap selection.. good 1/2 price Smitty's on Thursday with a range that is more than just chicken. The sneaky drop in for chips and gravy is a partners favouriteService: 4/5
Cannot recommend Reino highly enough. She is a one woman army in the kitchen at Beaches a lot of the time and does not disappoint on quality and taste. She often works on the weekends. Go hit up beaches for a meal Saturday and Sunday and I promise she will leave you feeling satiated and content. Thank you Reino =
This cool dude Jules helped me out with a late arrival/check in that totally put the dude out. Came in him own personal time off to hand me the key and make sure I could check in late. I was really stuck for somewhere to stay with a bit of a crisis situation going on So I owe the management a massive thanks for having such a great helping hand there with your chosen staff. I have chronic back pain problems and sleeping in my car wasn't an option. So you guys ought to give this Jules dude a pay rise I reckon.
A good place if you want to listen to a live band or a quiet drink or coffee gaming room and public clean toilets great for over 40sRooms: 3/5
For the price... Great service. I was attended to courteously, with manners, and with a smile, even although I could see they were working really hard as the place was full, and the Bar/accommodation reception all one and the same was covered by patrons 3 people's deep for the entire length of the bar. I didn't stay for dinner, as they had a sign saying that any order would take about 1 hour to be served due to how busy they were. I had a show starting across the road in 1 hour. I could not risk it, so I chose to get something from one of the others establishments outside, but the food I saw waiting for collection looked good, and good servings. Accommodation was with shared bathroom. One male one female bathroom for the entire floor. Room facing Princess Highway, obviously poorly sound proofed as every truck felt it was going through my room. Pub with live band on until 10 or 11. That's fine, I was expecting that this might happen. Not a hassle, but the cleaning up of bottles clinking and dragging furniture went on till very late. Then all night, everytime someone came in or left, the exit door would slam shut. Making a really loud metal door slamming. The 2 seats in the room were very stained, I will just say i would not seat on them. However the sheets and pillow covers looked very white and clean. All in all, a great joint if you are getting smashed enough to sleep through the night's noises. Nearby activities: Anita's theatre across the road with great Aussie concerts went to see Kate Ceberano there. A few small restaurants in the immediate area, but I strongly recommend that you book them in advance as they were all full to capacity. Walkability: Thirroul is small enough to reach everywhere walking. Nice views of the cliffs above this town, beach near by, shops and restaurants all at a walkable distance Noteworthy details: This place is a local band joint. Expect that. Bring your earplugs if you want to sleep some.
Went for dinner last night, they actually put effort into their salads which was a pleasant surprise, the staff were very nice and the food was great. Definitely worth checking out!
