I am so upset as how badly I was treated by a particular BOB CUT, LIGHT BROWN HAIRED, YOUNG WOMEN today (23/2/18). I have read all the reviews and it seems a majority of the one star reviews are about this same women. She is so rude and has no intention of helping anyone adopt. My partner and I drove over an hour with full intentions of adopting a cat after are old cat moved out with our old housemate. I explained to this women that we planned to have a predominantly indoor cat with some outside time when we are at home due to a bossy cat in our neighbourhood. I named two cats we were interested in. The first one she said ‘no that cat will fight it is not suitable’ (A cat that stands up for itself is something we were seeking, but we have no intention of letting our new baby get into a fight in the first place, hence an indoor cat), but this cow had made her decision and that was that. She did show us the second cat after asking us stupid questions like ‘are we allergic to cats? Do we have permission from our landlord to have cats in the house?’. She then left us for 5 minutes and then came back to say we we’re not allowed to adopt as we had previously been refused on the basis that OUR NEIGHBOUR has an aggressive cat. So we were refused based on our apparent neighbours. We had never been refused before, we had come in previously to look around and then left, we had been served by a man who was very nice, he actually greeted us on entry this time and welcomed us into the cattery- so she was lying, that man never refused us. After this she didn’t even look me in the eye when speaking to me and just denied us to see cats even though I assured her it would be an inside cat. As we left she went over a refused another couple because they already had a dog- they were also getting upset. That women is an absolute disgrace to animals I have no idea why she still works there. I am an animal lover- I own and rescue horses. My grandma adopted her dog from this pound and my mum adopted my dog who passed away recently from this pound 14 years ago and now when it’s my turn I get insulted and rudely dismissed. Do not bother trying to adopt if you see her, read the other reviews saying similar things. So utterly disappointing. my complaint was addressed on the 1/6/18. The society understands my complaint and is working with the employee to resolve.

What a wonderful experience. We went in ready to adopt a cat. We were greeted very well by Karen and all the staff. Just after 10 minutes we had found our lovely Samson and within 30 minutes we were on our way home with him. Karen and Jamie were very knowledgeable about Samson and gave us all the information required to make sure he was going to be well cared for! Thank you all...

I recently drove down from Montrose after seeing the adoption drive posts they had on Facebook; I wasn’t greeted upon entry and it took over ten minutes for a person to notice me. Asking me quite rudely “so you’re here to adopt yeah?” I responded and she gestured for me to let myself out into the shelter to have a look. I proceeded to let myself out, and noticed the poor condition the animals enclosures were in, there was only four in the whole of the cattery- after putting my initial hesitation behind me; I called my partner and told him about a beautiful cat I thought would suit our lifestyle and described the cats temperament we then agreed and I went to inform the staff that I was ready to adopt the cat, I was then subjected to answering a million questions about my life; I was then told that since I was moving house in three weeks that I wasn’t suitable for adoption, I then informed her the cat would be staying with my partner and wouldn’t be subject to the move anyway; she retorted and said that the cat would bond with my partner and having me present would cause it to fret once I eventually moved in. I was refused and turned away, it appeared this shelter had no intention of adopting out, in fact the way I was treated prompted me to go out to the RSPCA, instead. They got my business that day because, I wasn’t interrogated; or asked why I wanted a second cat- they understood what I told them and I was left to make a decision- this shelter is a complete miss; the staff are ill equipped with information, and are conceited in their approach to their job- especially the lady with the short brown bob, she turned away a young well off couple that cared for my childhood cat right up until he was twenty two years old; but they seemed more than happy to adopt a dog out to a feral family talking about ‘dog fighting.’ The logic floors me, Give this a big miss, Pearcedale RSPCA is by far the better quality more professional shelter- I’m glad this place is closing down- I felt bad for the small handful of animals left there, they seemed more human than the staff.

We adopted our dog from here and we couldn't praise the staff more. They were helpful and courteous and do a wonderful job looking after these abandoned dogs and cats before being rehomed. They look after the animals well and are passionate about what they do.
