The cakes and onigiri were average. Houjicha latte and garlic bread were pretty good. Service was okay, the girl got my order wrong and proceeded to charge me extra…nnAlso, they have a 5% discount if you pay in cash or bpay so reminder to bring cash when you come here.nnOverall, low chance of returning unless I’m looking for a cute place to take some nice pictures‍nnItems ordered:nHoujicha lattenIced Coffee with icecreamnCappuccinonMatcha Redbean ShortcakenMango ShortcakenBlack Sesame CheesecakenTuna OnigirinSalmon OnigirinCream Cheese Garlic Bread
I've actually been to this cafe a number of times. It's one of the cafes I frequently visit, but I think it lacks some consistency. The other times I've ordered from this cafe has been good and delightful but I was a little bit disappointed with my orders today.nnI ordered the strawberry matcha latte and the mango matcha latte. I don't usually order fruit matcha drinks but I decided to give it a go.nnWhen my order came, I was disappointed by the lack of colour in the matcha. It was very pale. Especially after mixing, I could not taste the matcha at all. It just tasted like cold milk with strawberry and mango jam.nnI didn't realise this while I was at the cafe, but the Pikachu and bear ice that they usually put on top of the drink as seen in the other reviews below wasn't added in mine. I understand that stores can run out of ingredients, but a heads up would have been nice while we were being given the drinks. Especially when we paid the full price expecting the drinks to be as they were advertised. Instead, they came with very small sprinkles of frozen raspberry. I wouldn't have minded as much if the Pikachu or bear ice were there if the matcha flavour really came through, but the combination of not having the exact drink advertised and being skimped on with the amount of matcha made this visit a bit disheartening.nnI have also attached a photo of the matcha chai latte that I usually order to compare the colour of matcha that I usually receive vs the one today. It's visibly a more vibrant green and it's taste is a lot more strong!nnOverall, still a good cafe but would like more consistency. Would still most likely visit again but with more reluctance to buy the other matcha drinks. Liked the option of paying in cash for a 5% discount.
I have high expectations before I visit this cafe. Good to see they are doing great for their creative hot n cold drinks menu. I personally like your effort to prepare my Black seaseme esspresso. The quality of cakes and croissants is average, I reckon the price is more worth it if you can bring in bigger size croissants and improve the skill of cake making. Cakes overall it's ok, but the taste is not enough surprises as some tiktok foodies are described.
Recently visited this cafe. Someone mentioned in insta that is it ranked as top 5 Japanese cafe in Melbourne so I was very excited to go there.nn1. I ordered strawberry matcha latte. It was good and refreshing , felt very sweet. The latte look so beautiful and instagramable. Also had matcha cake. Cake look so cute , I personally felt it was too sweet compared to other matcha cake I had. Also felt that the price is high .n2. The service was a bit poor. I went around 1-2 pm and it wasn’t much busy . The staff over there, didn’t great or didn’t seem much happy thou! Maybe they were stressed and tired .n3. The atmosphere, it was too loud with the music . Couldn’t hear what my friend was talking. Chairs and table were clean.n4. I went there hopping to have different type of cake which I saw in insta and google, but was so sad , there was only 2-3 variety of them. Maybe I was late or maybe it’s because of weekend.nnI would like to go back to try more varieties .nnUpdate: Revisited this cafe. Ordered purple potato latte and its cake and a strawberry short cake.nIced latte was fine and the cake too. But the short cake , the strawberries in those were too frozen and was hard to bite. Really didn’t like it. Felt too expensive for that quantity.
I have been here twice recently and have tried a few of their lattes. The matcha and houjicha are great - good foam and well-balanced flavour. We'd also ordered the purple espresso tiramisu latte - as expected, it was sweet and flavourful, but personally, we found it far too sweet, making it hard to finish. The dessert was slightly underwhelming as compared to online reviews; it was still enjoyable, but it's nothing amazing. Overall, this is a cute cafe for drinks and pics, with not many food options a few pastries, ham & cheese croissants, and onigiris. There is a large table inside to sit and chat and many cute decorations to admire. I would still recommend coming here if you are looking for somewhere small, cute, and relaxing with very affordable pricing.
