Tony Pickett to the rescue with his wet/dry vacuum! The story: My hubby + I were visiting over this past Christmas, staying at the home of a dear friend. Her washing machine drained into a sink instead of into plumbing in the wall. Not a problem, until I decide to do some hand washing in the sink, totally forgetting about the draining issue. I started the washing machine, then off to get a shower. Apparently the sound of the shower, then the hair dryer, muffled the sound of an overflowing waterfall very well! OMG! I walk out of the bathroom to discover MOST OF THE HOUSE IS FLOODED!!!! I yelled for my husband he had no clue about the flooding I'd created. Both of us ransacking the closets for blankets or towels.....anything...to halt the river of water on it's path. Her floors are mostly laminate wood but there were large area rugs soaking up the water like giant sponges. The bedrooms were carpet and I watched in horror as the cream color started changing to dark with the water soaking into the padding underneath. I'm bawling by now. In a panic, I grabbed a push broom, desperately trying to reroute the tide in the hallway. The water rushes away, splashing up at the baseboards, until it hits a wall further up the hallway, then reverses! NOOOO!!! My hubby made some phone calls for assistance, and we discover Tony Pickett has a wet/dry vaccum. He immediately brought it over. It made quick work of the remaining water, plus it did a phenomenal job on the soaking wet carpets. Tony and Territory Hirex to the rescue! The mess was cleaned up before any lasting damage was done. Ps: Our friend returned home shortly afterward and my husband told her, the good news is we cleaned her house. Bad news is we used her washing machine to do it! She actually laughed and admitted to doing that same thing before. She said no harm done.
