My 6 year old child was left without water all afternoon when his water bottle was misplaced. When my son mentioned he was thirsty he was told that he would just have to find his water bottle! He was not taken to a tap nor given any water. I work 100 metres from where the academy hires the courts (on the same premises), a phone call would have ensured my son had water however the owner Daniel also forbids parents from dropping in to the clinic to see their children, even for 5 minutes.. His reasoning is that he doesn't know whether they are "stalkers or parents". I do understand if a parent sits in the car park and watches from a distance but not when they announce themselves. I was informed of this "logic" when I popped in to see my son earlier that day ( I wear a large photo ID badge around my neck and he knew exactly who I was and that I was a parent as I have had many conversations with him) and was told I had to leave by Daniel not so politely, even though I announced my arrival to him before I approached my son. I felt intimidated. My intuition then says " Is he hiding something? What doesn't he want parents to see? I truly felt uneasy. I have sent my child to other holiday clinics and sporting and activity sessions all of which have an open door policy with transparency to all parents... I would not use this clinic again and I withdrew my son for the remaining 2 days as I was unhappy with the care he was given. ( I was given a refund for the final 2 days) My son is 6 years old, the clinic's duty of care MUST be to ensure all kids playing sport drink water and their needs are met. My son should have been given water. Parents MUST be welcome to see their children in the lunch break to ensure they are safe and well and they have their basic needs met - such as water.
