i brought in for my bike to be serviced and was impressed by the speed and the reasonable fee that they charge.
I don't normally take the time to post reviews but I felt compelled after my experience. I bought a bike last week from Teds. After having a very poor read: extremely poor experience with Melbourne Bicycle Centre in Clifton Hill some time ago, I was in the market finally for a new bike. I was recommended to Ted's in Footscray by a family member. I went into the store 3 separate times and test rode bikes. I am the type who really likes to do my research before making a purchase. The staff were very patient, answered all of my questions and gave me their unbiased opinions I know they were unbiased because they all had different opinions based on use. In the end, I decided to purchase the bike from them and they gave me a very very good deal. Cheapest price in Melbourne and the service was great to boot. They did not try and pressure me into buying one particular bike, rather they let me decided what I was after and then gave me a range of options to start with... very helpful I would highly recommend this store. Most bicycle shops I've come across seem to have rude, arrogant people who do not understand the concept of customer service however I would be glad to hand over my hard earned to this business - well done !
Just fitted my bike with a new child seat for my daughter. Best customer service I have ever had in a bike shop. These guys go the extra mile to make sure their customers are happy. I've used them several times for servicing too. Couldn't be happier.
I walked in for a browse and walked out with a bike. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff were very helpful and found a bike suited to my height with some adjustments. The man who helped me was very generous with his time and advice and wanted to make sure the bike was the right fit for me. He swapped out parts free of charge and gave me a great deal on the bike and extras I bought. Thank you!
This is my go-to shop for all things cycling. The staff are always friendly, helpful and professional. I bought my bike here a couple of years ago and they spent the time with me to get the right size frame and type of bike for what I'd be doing. Every service thereafter has been excellent and reasonably priced.
I've been to Teds a number of times over the years and I highly recommend it for accessories, repairs and new bikes. They have quite a good range of accessories to suit all price ranges. Their repairs are very affordable and if they're not too busy they'll do it on the spot. I bought a brand new Giant flat bar road bike from them on the weekend and the staff were very helpful. I'll keep going back.
I bought my 'Peggy' bike from Ted's. I love that when in the shop, that i'm no pounced on by staff, Your allowed to wander around the shop without harassment. The staff are helpful, friendly and approachable. No need for 'in your face' sales type people here. No need to rush or feel pressured into buying something. Also when i asked for advice on a few things, i was given good honest answers. Love a real shop with real people!
One of the best shopping experiences I've had. Recently crashed my bike, gonna take it back to their shop to get fixed, in that I trust them. Worth the trip and going or of my way, because it seems to me they go or of their way to do what's right
I recently bought two bikes from this shop and am happy with both purchases. Gary happily stripped my older tourer bike of the bits and pieces that I wanted on my new bike, Michael knows his job very well, too. I found both the service and the products that I bought very satisfactory and am puzzled by the various negative posts on this site, some of which sound as if being made by people who'd be cranky at an ambo for saving their life, chronically negatively-geared whingers.
My partner got his bike serviced here and as part of that he asked for a new inner tube in the front. We just had a puncture for the first time after the service and saw that the inner tube has still had old patches on it. They didn't change it. But they did charge him for it. Also, I was going to buy a bike here a couple of weeks back. They were so disinterested and didn't give me any advice. Just pointed out the bike and the cost and that was it. Then the guy just wandered off. I ended up spending $800 on a really nice bike at a place up the road Flemington Cycles who gave me lots of advice about size, made adjustments so I could take it for a ride to test it, and then did a good deal on some accessories. It is a shame that Ted's isn't better, especially with the changing demographic of Footscray. There seems to be someone interested in this feedback, based on the comments from an owner/manager below, but they really need to do something about the staff motivation.
