Excellent place to stay. We booked the room with a private bathroom and just what we needed before the Milford Track.  They had a huge kitchen where we could prepare our food before the trek and a fridge we could store some chilled items.  Excellent location on the lakefront and close to the main town.

Good things: Lovely clean room with a kitchen and bathroom which was shared by only one other room. A great balcony with furniture outside of the room. A lovely lakefront position near to the town centre. Great laundry facilities. Bad things: Nothing .

Very nice backpackers. I missed one night stay because I booked last minute and arrived late but for my stay there receptionist was helpful with recommendations. The hangout areas are amazing and beautiful view of the lake. Can chill there and watch sunset at the lakeRooms: 4/5

Nice but very affordable lodging. Looks like most rooms are two bedrooms with a shared bath and kitchenette. Beautiful location on the lake. Friendly staff. Laundry and plenty of clothes line to air dry.Rooms: 5/5

This is a great base for exploring the area. We stayed two nights mainly to go to milford sounds. The whole place is pretty basic but you get everything you need and the kitchen is well equipted.  Nearby activities: Milford Sounds  Walkability: Supermarket and a few bars / Restaurants are near by

Overall nice hostel, can’t complain. Didn’t try the dorm as was staying with family but the amenities for dorm life were nice.

Called several days in advance and was told to show up day of no problem to stay. Showed up at 9:30 and no one answered the phones or door. Finally got ahold of them and was told that they don’t take anyone in after 8pm and they wouldn’t let me in even though that’s not what I was told prior. Ridiculous, this left me stranded in te Anau which was not a pleasant experience.

Awesome place to stay with super friendly staff! Super duper clean and cosy. Love the stunning lake front views from the lounges. Excellent value for money - has everything you need considering it’s a backpackers and it’s in a perfect location for exploring! Will be back!!

I stayed in the dome hut Large tent with 4 beds in the large semi permanent tent, and it was super clean, friendly staff, clean kitchen, backyard.  There were near new toilets / showers  located at the rear of the backyard, for the dome guests and also the individual huts.  It was a pleasure staying there for two night, plus on-site parking too was a bonus. didn't manage to take a photo of the tent.
