A very special volunteer run museum thay documents and displays the irrigation history of the region as well as the little known history of internment and prisoners of war camps in the Tatura /Shepparton region. Easy to spend a couple of hours soaking up the information and achievements of the people who were involved.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
An amazing collection of memorabilia, including photos, paintings and artifacts from a little known period in Australian WW2 history. Make sure you see the video presentation before you walk through as this gives excellent background information. Entry cost is minimal $5 adult and you could easily spend a couple of hours checking it all out. There are also interesting exhibits about the local irrigation systems and local families of the area.
Very interesting , well laid out information. Ensure you watch the video first as it sets the scene overall.
Fantastic small museum highlighting the history of the area, both settlement days and ww2. Worth the visit if your interested area.
Simply amazing. The existence of internment camps during both world wars is a part of Australian history that is largely unknown. The people interned in these camps demonstrated remarkable resilience and ingenuity. The astonishing collection of artefacts, crafts and artworks attest to this. Our visit was a revelation. The staff here are fabulously knowledgeable and generous. Don't miss it if you're travelling to Shepparton.
Very well laid out and interesting museum of life in the area in the old days as well as the war time camp holding mostly Germans in WW2. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff giving us a briefVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Interment camp history not many would know about. Well set out museum, helpful staff taking extra time to explain the history. Well worth the visit.
A most interesting museum, full of well displayed information and memorabilia from the internment camps. Take time to watch the excellent video first. Volunteer George was most helpful and went out of his way to show me documents relating to my father.
Extremely interesting $5.00 donation entry feeVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
