Highly recommend! We were recommended by a local and had a beautiful experience here. Lovely service, great atmosphere, good pricing, and exceptional food. The dishes are on the smaller side so recommend getting a few to share.Food: 5/5
The sashimi was nice, however the lunch menu is limited to only a few variety of fish. I would definitely return to try their more extensive dinner menu. The chicken karaage was unimpressive. Nice ambiance with pleasant service. The place is baby friendly, which is a bonus for young families.
Great food, one of the more authentic Japanese restaurants in Wellington. Will recommend getting the sashimi platter!
Definitely more of the authentic options in wellington for Japanese food and it is good… However it’s a bit average for the price. Although many of the flavours are authentic the display of the food is not so much. I got the karaage just for the daikon oroshi however there was so little daikon it was disappointing. Last time I came here I got their sashimi don which was also average for the price with very little sashimi on top. Maybe I’m asking and expecting too much ? Just my perspective as someone who is Japanese. I have heard their udon is good although I have never tried.
It was a real treat. We enjoyed the large sashimi plate, the tiger prawn tempura, the soft shell crab, the agedashi tofu and the tuna soup. Highly recommended!Recommended dishesLarge Sashimi Plate, Black Tiger Prawn Tempura
Authentic Japanese cuisine in town. Our family’s favourite dinning place. Good service and delicious food with reasonable price. Never disappoint us.
The food was so delicious, we went for the set menu as we had never been there before. Salad, refreshing, miso out of this world, chicken tender and spicy, tempura prawns, I literally sat in my seat and savoured them for 10 minutes my mouth had never tasted such well made tempura batter and the prawns melted I'm my mouth, the quality of the produce fresh and tasty. Would we go again, definitely! If we hadn't overindulged in sake dinner would have only come to 80 for the two of us. Great service and food
Don't normally do these but honestly we were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. We had high Hope's but all I can think of is, with our current employment situation in dire need of experienced catering staff, we had a ho hum evening. We waited a considerable time for a waitress to come to our table, she was difficult to hear and gave no help what so ever about the menu. We fumbled around the menu and managed to order the mens but I don't eat squid or cheese. Men's drinks were easy but I don't drink alcohol or sugar drinks. Hence plain water was ordered. The meals were started but mine came to a halt so the salmon could be cooked. I was given coke which I don't drink instead of water and halloumi which I had said I didn't eat. The meal was satisfactory but a waiter cleared the mens dishes before I had even started my meal. I was left to sit and dine basically by myself. Staff needed to be trained before hitting the floor and dealing with paying customers. Won't be going back.
I love this place, from ambiance to quality of food. I wish I knew about their lunch offers earlier. Their dinner can get pricey if you go often, but their lunch menu is really reasonable. The food is fresh and flavour is on par. Along with the friendly service it feels like a really Japanese restaurant in Japan. I had their assorted sashimi bowl. It was fresh with a good variety of sashimi.
Very nice and relaxed atmosphere suitable for families or couples. Food tasted great and staff gave a lot of attention to service. The highlights were the Umeshu plum wine, agadeshi tofu and tempura tiger prawns. Definitely returning for another visit.
