This place is a gem that Stanley folks seem justly proud of. We stopped for a wine a stayed for a delightful evening. Food was varied and excellent, wine selection top notch and lots of fun to check out. The host is a charmer, welcoming and fun. The atmosphere is brilliantly eclectic, steam punk meets victoriana, with visual wit everywhere you look. Its welcoming and homely, and relaxing. A lovely experience, thank you and bloody well done !
The bar tender was rude to my wife, and any customers that weren’t local. He may as well have had a sign out the front ‘locals only’ and we wouldn’t have wasted our time. My wife asked for advice for a nice Tasmanian Gin and he said “I’ve got some Christmas Gin I need to get rid of, you can have that”. The pharmacy across the road had far better customer service FYI, highly recommend.
Quirky venue worth one visit just to look. However the bartender was too full of his self importance really to be bothered with customers unless you were a local! Plus side pizza was homemade and delicious. Been and seen ,don't need to return
This is a must in Stanley. Michael is an amazing host. Tell him what you like and let him guide you through the wines. This made our trip in Stanley. Tremendous wine bar with endless stories, amazing people also!
Quirky, interesting place. Worth a visit
Like many of the other negative reviews about this place, my experience here left a very sour taste in my mouth. The staff member seems to be more interested in his moustache and choice of clothing than on customer service. It was apparent that locals are deserving of some effort, but even when I attempted to engage about the origins of this business, he showed such little interest in any form of dialogue. My wife also noticed this, so wasn't just my imagination. It wasn't because we arrived at a busy time, or he was run off his feet with anything else, rather he seemed engrossed with some obscure reading open on his computer screen. As a traveller you'll find much better customer service and value for money at the local hotel just across the road, so give your money to someone who will make you feel welcome. Rude, apathetic, disinterested, and not worth the effort. EDIT: The "sorry but not sorry" response from the business owner is typical of the other negative reviews for this place.
Sooo quirky and cool. Loved it from the moment I stepped through the door. I am speechless. If you want to travel back in time and have your senses stimulated this place is a must. A visit to the toilet is also a must . A visit to Stanley is not complete without visiting here
What an awesome spot! Totally unexpected in a small country town to find such a lovely appointed bar with a great drinks list.
Cosy, gorgeous and eclectic decor. 100% recommend if you're in Stanley. Delicious cheese boards to go with the drinks.
Quirky with a wonderful selection of beverage and fantastic service
