A regular for their pork chop, today I got to try their soup and crispy chicken. It smelt amazing and came packed with vegetables, crispy pork bits and cashews. Love love their sauces too!
Delicious, fresh and full of flavour. We loved the broken rice and dry vermicelli noodles with pork chop and spring rolls. Quick service. Well priced. Large serving portions.
Best Com Tam Broken Rice in Melbourne by far, even better than most vendors in Vietnam as well!nnThe rice is soft and well cooked. Grilled pork chop is packed with flavour. The sauce is the best part, doesnt have heavy fish sauce smell.nnStaffs are friendly and helpful. Only downside is this is not the cleanest and most well kept venues Ive been to, but its reasonable.
Totally authentic and absolutely delicious - they have a speciality dish cơm tấm - photo below which they can whip up very quickly, or other quite delicious items on the menu. Great Vietnamese coffee too. Highly recommend this place. Arrive early or late though - it’s very popular & there is often a line up during peak lunch/dinner hours. It is open from 9 am to 7 pm every day except Sunday when it closes at 5 pm.
Update:nOrdered Hu Tieu Do Bien - Seafood Rice Noodle Soup. Same soup base as the Special Rice Noodle Soup but with just seafood toppings plus rendered pork fat.nnStill generous with their toppings but unfortunately today, we were immensely thirsty not long after.nnPrevious Visit:nTake away - Hu Tieu DAC Biet Special Rice Noodle Soup which is the same as Hu Tieu Tom Thit Meat, Prawn and Rice Noodle Soup but with fish cake and squid added.nnStill generous with their toppings. Still taste the same.nnWe now come here only for these noodles since their broken rice has been a disappointment.nnNew menu/pricingnnPrevious Visit:nnVery, very disappointed.nnOrdered No. 5 - Broken Rice with Shredded Pork, Grilled Pork, Meatloaf and Fried Egg.nnThis place used to really good for their Broken Rice. Of late, the size of the serves have been very inconsistent - depending on who puts it together and the pork chop is dry and markedly thinner than it used to be. The size of the meatloaf has shrunk. Recently, they have changed over to a smaller sauce bowl and getting less sauce as well.nnHappy to accept price increases but not shrinking the serves as well. As you can see from the photos, we did not get the full generous serving as the other reviewers have described.nnDo yourself a favour and scroll through previous reviews with photos and you’ll understand my gripe.nnOrdered No. 10 - Meat, Prawn and Rice Noodle SoupnnThis is still the best so far that I’ve tasted. Unlike the Broken Rice which is prepared at the front of the shop, this dish is prepared in the back kitchen and they are very generous with their toppings. They have however replaced the sliced pork heart with chicken hearts which is definitely a no no in my book. And.. yes there is msg.nnThis place is not clean. It is very much an eat and leave straightaway kind of place.nnIf not for the noodle soup, I would have rated this place a zero.
