As others have said, the issue with this place is that if they get the food to you in a timely manner it's a little too undercooked. Yet if they cook it properly then it takes a little too long. My soft shell crab and cheese kransky takoyaki definitely tasted a little undercooked and soft, though there was good potential there for a nice meal if they'd been cooked a little better.
Takoyaki was not cooked probably, tasted like soggy flour balls with uncooked cabbage pieces. The ingredients all tasted bland, pretty much all covered by the taste of mayonnaise and okonomiyaki sauce. Drinks were hideous, tasted like water mixed with food colouring and artificial flavours. If you want takoyaki, go to the night market takoyaki stall, don't bother with this place.
Friendly service and freshly prepared delicious takoyaki. Very authentic, as good as I've tasted in Japan ‿
They make fresh takoyaki balls to order in a variety of flavours and fillings. Our flavour of the night was corn and cheese and it was delicious! Big, steaming hot balls, perfectly fried on the outside and soft gooey cheese and corn inside. The perfect combo in my opinion!
They greet you "Welcome to Tamayaki, Yummy, Yummy". There is a short wait to collect your order and no seats are available. I would suggest you collect your order and take a short stroll down to Darling Harbour. Love the food, I've almost tried half their menu.
This place is great. Takoyaki is one of my favourite things, but it's not great if you don't like or want to eat octopus, but this place has vego and other meat options, which is awesome. It's cooked fresh, so yes, it takes a few minutes to get, but it's soooo worth it! Super delicious.
Used a Groupon voucher but the said to have this is a extra $1,to have that is a extra $1,I should of really read the fine print! One worker gets stuck doing all the orders and the food so it took a while for the food and drink to come out The octopus takoyaki, one plus is the outer skin does not break apart easily I remember going to the night markets ordering takoyaki and the skin was sticky and yet the skin broke easily and it just went everywhere The taste is different from other places,it's ok or am I just too use too the taste of what you get at Japanese places? and my milk tea was what I expected it to taste The get a A for presentation, the takoyaki look appetising If you want a snack and can stand the wait, why not try this!
After walking through Chinatown last night January 27th, we wanted something savoury to snack on and decided on Takoyaki. What we got from Tamayaki was expensive, soggy flour balls that took ages to arrive. We waited for 15 minutes after ordering and then enquired about how long it would take. The guy we asked berated and practically slapped the "chef", as apparently he had just given our order to the previous customer who was now walking away. They ran after them to retrieve our order. Instead of apologising, we were told "someone took your order". No, they didn't take our order. You guys handed it to them. It was your fault. Own up to it instead of pointing the finger at someone else. When we received our Giant Octopus Takoyaki, they were soggy and nearly impossible to pick up with the fork provided. Inside each Takoyaki was a single tiny piece of octopus. We ate 1 of 4 and threw the rest out. These guys are obviously not Japanese, because Japanese would not serve this rubbish and pass it off as Takoyaki. We've eaten Takoyaki in many places including Japan and this was not Takoyaki. Oh and to top things off as soon as we took our order, both employees could not wait to exit the shop and sit 2 metres away outside and smoke. Right next to where we were sitting to eat our food. Pretty sure that's against NSW laws to sit within 4 metres of where food is being consumed too. Disgusting quality and non existent customer service. Shame on the owners for employing lazy, disinterested employees.
I had a giant octopus and mango yogurt juice ball, the drink is so nice and the mango flavor juice ball are so interesting, the octopus ball are bigger than the traditional Japanese one, it's crispy and very tasty
Got the ice cream puff - was basically frozen cream that was microwaved upon purchase. Would not recommend. I didn't try any of their savoury food.
