Beef saagwala - the rice was very well cooked., the food was hot and the service quick. The flavour of the beef saagwala was not as strong as I have had it elsewhere but it was enjoyable. The beef was tender and the sauce thick. The naan was well cooked. The service was quick once I placed my order but I did have to wait too long before a server came to the counter. I almost walked out but I wanted to try this restaurant.
The food was delicious and each dish is plenty for one person. Staff friendly and attentive. The best butter chicken, good curry, not pricey and worth the drive. Will be back next time I am in NZ. This is the best Indian I have had in years. I recommend pairing the delicious meals with the mixed pickles. I will 100% be ordering again.
The meals were really good, the service excellent, the place bright and clean. I know I will enjoy my meal there so I try to eat there whenever I'm in Te Aroha.
Doesn't feel authentic indian. Too much source added so everything is pretty sweet like Thai food. Same base had been used for both lamb and fish curries making them same taste. The amount of meat wasn't that satisfactory as well.
Cosy, air conditioned restaurant for dining in or you can order takeaway. Excellent service from friendly staff. Good wine list with a selection of NZ wines. Plenty of variety on the menu and made to order. Picture is Mango Kulfi - delicious.

Every meal we ordered was totally delicious and the heat of the curry perfectly balanced. Visit the Taj restaurant if you want a well priced meal with large portion sizes and great service. Thanks folks. We'll be back on our next trip. Vegetarian options: Loads of vegetarian options
Throughly enjoyed our time at Taj, highly recommend . We had the lunch special , butter chicken and added garlic cheese naan, $17.00 and we were full. We were told their food is quite hot ,so we got mild , it was perfect . We came from Waihi wot a lovely little twn. Everyone was SO friendly. Will definitely return. Forgot to add they not shy with the chicken either , had heaps of chicken.
