A simply beautiful place to visit to enjoy the scenery, the views of the lighthouse, and to get some amazing photos! There is a large parking lot at the end of the road, and it is free. It’s only a 5 minute walk to the walkways and overlooks. There is a bird sanctuary adjacent to the viewing area, so you might see some seabirds, albatross species, etc, and get some great photos. A definite place that you should drive out to see when you are in the area!
Amazing day out on the water today at Taiaroa Head. First time I have viewed it from the water, usually I've driven to the royal albatross colony and stood on top of Taiaroa Head. Abundant wildlife to see including fur seals, albatross, seagulls, shags, sooty shearwaters and baby squid. Nature at it's best.
Located on the nature reserve. Hasn't been accessible/open to the public since the 1980's. You can glimpse it from afar from the Seabird Lookout. But there is no open trail leading to it.

An amazing location home to more than 5 wildlife breeding colonies. Go on a windy day to see albatross soaring above. Go on the wildlife cruise for the best views of the Otago shags and other wildlife that live on Taiaroa head cliffs

Beautiful wildlife. Great to watch the royal albatross flying. Better viewing conditions for this in more wild weather as the birds like the wind for flights
Spectacular point with heaps of sea lions seals and their pups. You will need to go by boat or canoe to see this!
