Campus internet reception is non existent. Campus food quality is poor and way overpriced for students and apprentices. But, staff are really good, machinery is good, and facilities are tidy.
I’m going to describe my complete dissatisfaction with the Cert II Electrotechnology at this tafe. I think there are two other reviews here explaining the same thing. 1. Teachers here are horrible no communication, yelling at students and telling them how hopeless they are if they accidentally mess up or not understanding a topic, on top of that half the time the teachers just talk about their life stories never getting to the topic properly which brings me to point 2. 2. Course content is all on PowerPoints with maybe a few practicals it’s structured so bad that no one in my class understood it, and on top of that the time is to crammed so that you literally have to do on average an assignment and exam every day I’m not even kidding and if you fail they will just say to bad so sad re enroll and you have no time to study it up. 3. Here’s what gets me you pay for this course right yet the teachers are not professional the content is rubbish and you get no help at all so if you are reading this maybe re consider another campus or place to study this. In general above is what I experienced throught the seven weeks being here it’s disgraceful don’t bother to apply here I won’t be combing back here again useless course and waste of time
F block Electrical learning part Teachers & staffs are really good. They are very friendly people. Teacher Tony, Aron, Andy, Stew, Steven.. You guys are awesome
Went to go to one of my classes this morning and no teacher rocked up and didn’t even notify me or my boss it’s extremely disappointing when your trying to put effort into your tafe cert and there putting in no effort at all to help extremely upset with this tafe as I also had to drive an hour there just for the teacher not ti rock up I don’t recommend this tafe at all
I'm writing this to express my extreme dissatisfaction with Tafe QLD Skillset Tech, especially for my position as a full fee paying student. I enrolled in the Diploma of Building and Construction Building, through online delivery and the course was overseen by SkillsTech Tafe in December 2023 in the estimating cluster. Throughout my study period from December 2023 until February 2024, I received zero and absolutely no helpful support from any of the course facilitator or lecturers. I was falling behind and unable to understand the content as I'm new to the construction sector, with zero experience and several of the tasks and assessments require applying these essential knowledge to complete them successfully. I first contacted James Emilien, whom I believed to be one of the course facilitator for the Diploma and then I was refered to Stephen Hughes. I have emailed Stephen twice from both Tafe outlook email and my personal Gmail from Jan 8 2024, and up til now, I received zero answer from him. You can see the attached email conversation. And now that I want to withdraw from the online study to move to the Tafe Ashmore for my study of the Diploma, I was refused to get a credit transfer/refund for this horrible study experience. Is this how you treat your student and your full-fee paying customer? I'm a domestic student and you don't even bother to offer the smallest help or support for my study. What an absolute joke, your level of help and support doesn't qualify for the standard of an Australian higher study instuition!
A terrible place to learn. The way in which electrical principles are delivered is absolutely shocking. Content is delivered far too quickly allowing students zero time to study, prepare and ask questions. If a student fails an exam and is required to resit, they are given no record of what they have to study. What’s more, when teachers go through the exam, they fail to guide students in where they went wrong - instead, telling you what it is, or simply saying they are disappointed, giving vague references to certain topics. Egotistical teachers coupled with poor training material. In my opinion the pass/fail rate is a reflection on teaching. Every policy they have around assessment is engineered to ensure many students resit the block. Update: 2024 Since leaving utterly dissatisfied with Acacia Ridge I decided to attend Flexible Delivery at Bracken Ridge. Even without structured class teaching I was able to complete what would have been a 4 week block in just 7 days. Joel & Jonno the flexi trainers actually explained things in an easy to understand way, and didn’t have ego problems like many trainers at Acacia Ridge.
Have to agree with Rita the Electrical side is shocking, lack of staff with the ability to teach reason for high drop out rate as course content is read off PowerPoint not explained. Course lacks structure not being taught the basics first.Too much crammed in to short period.Lack in communication skills. Apprenticeship now being completed at a different College. Time for more options than TAFE.
I have been trying to get a place for 8 months. I have called hundreds of times they either don't answer, don't call back or don't do what they tell you they are going to do. No body seems to know what they are doing or how to fix the problem. I have had to drive an hour to the campus because they are not answering my calls and there is only one person here. She tried to ring the person organising my enrolment only to find that that person No longer works in the department. Many head scratches later and im still no closer to being enrolled. Meanwhile I'm working for peanuts and no closer to getting my licence. It's a joke. No wonder Australia has a skilled worker shortage.
The TAFE support team was so helpful and diligent in sorting out my enrolment in very busy overloaded times for them. Was able to have my enrolment sorted out in 1 day as it was the last business day before the course was set to start. Tayla was great and updated me throughout the process despite how busy they were. It can be a frustrating process applying for TAFE but I think it comes down to inadequate funding/resources & high demand rather than their services lacking.
The teachers in the electrical section at acacia ridge were very knowledgeable and most helpful. I would like to further note that Brett Bishop is an awesome teacher and continuous to help his students outside the qld tafe banner in order for us to better understand the knowledge and experiences we face day to day.
