Sydney by Sail

My partner surprised me with a beautiful harbour sail and overnight stay on the Allegra. It was a truly unforgettable experience and while very expensive, very worthwhile! The overall service was excellent. We had a fantastic captain who was incredibly patient with teaching us the basics of sailing. You'll be able to help with most of the sailing including the steering or you can choose to kick back and relax if that's more up your alley. You also get the boat to yourself from sunset till morning so it's very private and intimate. The quality of the catered food needs to be improved for an experience of this calibre and price, but does its job. The seafood was fantastic. I recommend bringing plenty of your own snacks and drinks. Make sure you have a full charge of phone battery or bring a portable charger and don't come expecting a hot shower on the boat as the engine needs to be running for that. Make sure you bring plenty of warm clothes as it gets cold at night on the water - even in Autumn. Will go again in a heartbeat when we can spare the change again.

What a great experience!! We came from the UK to Australia and wanted to go sailing with my daughter and son in law…. Sydney by sail did not disappoint. Our skipper Mark was so knowledgeable, made us feel so comfortable and even let us steer the boat or get involved with sailing as much or as little as we wanted. We had a wonderful day and sailed under the harbour bridge and around the harbour seeing all the sights. Would recommend going on a sail with this company any day, thank you for a great day!!!

My husband and I spent 5 weeks holidaying in Australia and our time on Sydney harbour with Sydney By Sail was one of our absolute highlights! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sydney. We started the afternoon on the dock with an intro from our captain, Mark, before setting off under the harbour bridge and hoisting the sails in front of the opera House. We felt very safe with Mark and we even got to steer the boat and adjust the sails ourselves too! It was a fantastic way to take in the sights of the harbour and spend some quality time with our family. Could not recommend it any more highly!

A friend recommended me the 3 hour trip around the harbour. This was my first time ever on a boat and I must say what a great experience it has been. Our Skipper Chris was an absolute pleasure to sail with. He let us take charge of the boat steering and also taught us how to work our way around the sails. I would highly recommend this to everyone and also check out the different packages they offer. All The Best Guys!!!

Top notch organization. Words like Professional, Communicative, Experienced, Quality, Relaxed, Inviting, Thrilling come to mind when we think about this outfit. Their boats are all in very good shape, the crew was so cool when we asked how involved we could be with the running of the boat and they said as much as we wanted, and they were serious. We helped in raising the sails, coming about, maneuvering through the crazy harbor traffic with everything from tanker ships, mega yachts, crazy ferry captains and those tiny windsurfing "gangs" that are literally everywhere. The prices were more than reasonable and on the morning of our scheduled day trip they called us and warned us of high winds and if we wanted to reschedule or not. We said that is what sailboats are made for and they said "heck yes Mate" and we went.. it was more than invigorating! 13/10 must do this again!

Amazing time spent with the Sydney by Sail team on the water in Sydney Harbor. Skipper Aaron was very knowledgeable, talented and polite. The boat was spotless and impressive. Our dockside welcome by Josh made us feel like we were old friends. I’d highly recommend this adventure. Bring some warm clothing!

My boyfriend and I recently completed a sailing course with Sydney By Sail and it was so much fun, informative and the skipper was so knowledgable!! We sailed out of Sydney the first day into the harbour and practised tacking, putting reefs in the sail and all got a turn at different parts and tasks on the boat. By the second day we were all sailing the boat by ourselves! Highly recommend if you want to practise sailing as a complete beginner or if you just wanted to increase your knowledge further! Thank you SBS for an awesome weekend!!

Across the two days we learned heaps, laughed a lot and had cracking weather. The instructors were so helpful and willing to explain everything to us. Can’t wait for the next instalment. Thanks so much Sydney by Sail. Such a great skill to learn and enjoy!

We had a great time during our sailing at sunset yesterday. Good Skipper, the boat was in pristine condition. Josh was realy helpful and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend this tour to anyone new in Sydney or everybody interested in sailing
