Busy, but if you can figure out to get from T1 to T3, make sure you have enough time for connecting flights.....shuttle bus takes some time. Don't be fooled, 2 hrs is not enough time between connections for this
Didn’t have access to a scale beforehand so we planned to weigh our luggage at the airport. You have to pay $2 to weigh your luggage $2 PER WEIGH. The scale was broken - tried twice, so got charged twice, just for me to end up not being able to weight my bags. The border officers were also rude when processing our TRS receipts - he didn’t give us any information about what to do after so we had to wander around trying to figure it out. Extremely poor services. I am disappointed.
Very bad experience, I would rate this as one of the worst airport system in the world.nI landed in terminal 3 night 22:30 and my next flight was in next 12 hours from terminal 1, but when I came out, terminal 1 was very far and I did not knew how to get till there, because there was no information desk or any information board in terminal 3 and my phone was dead unfortunately to find out by myself. After somehow reaching to terminal 3 around 23:15 airport is closed till 2:30AM. I had to wait outside in freezing cold 6 degree Celsius, there were no proper seating, and no power points to charge phones and laptops. I did not expect this level of discomfort from one of most developed cities in the world. If closing international airport is so necessary, then at least government should bring strict rules against airlines for not keeping layover during closing hours. If government cannot bring this rule, then Sydney government should really learn to maintaincleaning while keeping 24 hours international airport open, making life of travelers easy and comfortable.
Beware of this poorly designed airport; especially if you have to transfer between domestic and international. You cannot walk and must leave terminal and so have to go through security again! Instructions are not always clear and there are no good information booths. There is bureaucratic redundancy and overly officious employees for example nail scissors can be taken on flights within the USA but not on a flight to the US - they will confiscate! Airline check ins cannot deal with more than one passport and most cannot process without calling for help. The authorities that control Sydney airport need to urgently develop a seamless process for domestic and international flights. Airline check in staff need to be trained to understand the visa processes. Allow yourself 2 hours for transfer!
Always great to go to Sydney International Airport. Just a bit upset not having any bank kiosks now to do currency exchange and deposit to debit cards.
