First time coming here and visited for lunch. Service was very friendly and efficient. The food was quite good. I would've liked a bit more variety on the actual train itself to save time instead of having to order but the quality was good and it was replenished quickly. A good range of beverages as well.
We ordered a takeaway at the store, waited for 25 mins and were asked to pack the sushi by ourselves. Sushi was fine but the $16 curry rice was a bit disappointing as it only had half piece and was cut into 4 little pieces. Just wondering, where is the other half?
Large clean environment, except booth lounges are a bit shabby andncould do with replacement. Food quality was imo a bit average, with a lack of the variety I've had from other sushi places 95%+ were rice dishes, with no exclusive veges, meat, seafood, poultry or any kind of warm dishes . We had to constantly order dishes which I expected to be on the train. The price of a dish averaged $6.30, which I thought was a touch high compared to other sushi places, but generally an inexpensive meal out.
Always enjoy a sushi train visit and this one is perfectly fine. I like their hot food options rather than take it off the belt karaage chicken, Udon curry, chicken balls.nnLosing a star as I ordered gyozas from the hot food menu so that they were cooked fresh but they gave me them from the conveyor belt and they were cold.nnUPDATE: Long wait for a table on a Friday night
Long time Sushi Train customers over many years with our go to store being Unley, and secondary store being Plympton.nTonight my wife and I agreed this would be our very last visit ever to Sushi Train. Generally not the best selection the past 3-4 times as there used to be on the train as of 5pm onwards.nNo problems though, we mostly order from the App via QR code, But… every single time over the past 4-5 visits our orders get forgotten, they don’t come out, we got chicken came out cold as anything, after a 45 minute wait and we continually have to ask where our order is, this has occurred the past 4 or more times. The staff were apologetic, but when you watch the staff going about their work, they appear to totally be nonchalant and over it, cannot smile, seem inconvenienced when you ask, and generally not helpful. I have written many nice reviews for many restaurants, but I have certainly noticed that Sushi Train is no way by any means what it used to be, it has really dropped the ball with portion sizes also.nSorry, but with respect we won’t be returning ever.
