Hands down the best and most consistent sushi quality in the Gold Coast. Quick service, efficient, lots of sushi varieties, self-service mayo, teriyaki sauce, and pickled gingers on the table, and the place is always busy, weekdays or weekends. 5% discount if paying by cash.
Fresh, great tasting food, fast polite service and excellent value. I have frequented Sushi Honba for some years and the only downside is it has become so popular there can be a small wait time max 15minutes to be seated, however well worth the wait. Keep up the great work guys!
Omg was recommended this place by my Brother and Sister-in-law. The best thing was the fact that each plate was $3.80! However sometimes I wish there was four pieces to a plate. The stand outs was the Salmon Kama Yaki $8.90 each dish had like three pieces on a plate I never had this before and it was awesome, fried crispy and in a teriyaki type sauce. We ordered Steam rice to eat with it. You have to not be afraid of getting your fingers dirty and enjoy taking out the flesh along with the fatty salmon. You could bite the wing tips like chips. I wouldn’t bother getting the mochi ! Quite expensive for one piece! Go to Coles and buy it for $1.50! But try this sushi place, it was really really busy! Bill came to $120 for 5 adults! We had demolished 18 plates. I loved the fact you could order fresh from the IPad, or just eat it right away as It came around the train without waiting. However Service was fast and friendly. I liked how the front staff checked everyone was double vaccinated and checked in. Pumping business, I’ll Be back
Amazing varieties at all $4 plates this year! I loves sushi and Honba is no.1 sushi train in QLD!! Great experience for our family!! Love to come back to try more plates here!
This place has a good vibe and there's a long queue to get a table. I was told they have a booking system in which you'll have to book 2 hrs upfront but not sure how the booking system works maybe a phone call booking system as there's no online booking on their website. If you walk in during busy times, go to the front staff and they will provide a buzzer. The buzzer will buzz when your table is ready. We waited 30 mins for a table. And does it worth the wait? The answer is no. This is by far the worst Japanese restaurant we have ever come across that is run by Japanese. The thickness of the sushi is about half the size of standard sushi. The sashimi doesn't taste fresh. It tastes more like “thawed sashimi”. The standard udon noodles usually come with a few toppings but the most common ones can be wakame seaweed, aburaage deep-fried tofu and naruto Japanese fish cake. From memory, the udon noodle soups on the menu come with deep-fried tofu but they also have red cabbage and bean sprouts!!! Really?? Cabbage and bean sprouts on Udon Noodle soup? We requested to have our Udon noodle soup without the bean sprouts and the cabbage but we were told to go with the plain udon noodle soup option instead. Chicken karaage was very dark brown. You can tell that the oil has been recycled and reused too many times. The gyoza, this might sound funny but both my husband and I find the taste, the shape and the texture exactly the same as the famous frozen KBs Prawn Gyoza you can find from Coles or Woolies. One of the sushi we ordered was flooded with mayonnaise and sweet chilli sauce. This is our first time having sushi with sweet chilli sauce. Very unusual. The agedashi tofu and the wagyu beef are ok. The best dish we had was the Renkon Chips lotus root chips. This is a nice sushi train restaurant where you can get a quick bite and hang out with friends that allow split bills but if you're after authentic Japanese food, this is not the right place.
Fresh sushi and good value! 3.80 per plate. Will be busy if you come in a lunch time, but worth the wait. We waited 15 mins to get seated.
10/10 would recommend everyone to come here! Everything is so fresh and delicious! Highly highly recommended! Remember to check-in at the counter for a queue number. The wait can be at least 30mins but it is definitely worth the wait i promise!
Sushi Honba does not disappoint and it is well worth the wait when it is busy, ordering on the tablet is very quick and easy, service is fast and the food is delicious. I am a pretty regular customer here and it is very consistently high quality food.
SUSHI HONBA @sushihonba Location: Shop1/3 Classic Way, Burleigh Waters QLD 4220 Rating: 5/5 sushi heaven is found at @sushihonba i love sushi train, but the only problem is it’s getting so expensive… with the average price per plate ranging around $4-$4.2 at most places now but Sushi Honba decided to stay at the lowest price that i can find now with $3.8 per platebut! does the cheap price mean lower quality?… in this case absolutelyyyy not!!!the sushi here is actually so much fresher and better than many other sushi places i’ve been to! due to the constant line outside, the sushi is so fresh and basically made on the spot considering the fast turnover~ the sushi here is so delicious and they do not skimp out on giving you huge pieces! the rice balls and slices of seafood here were truly so much bigger and fresher! my favourite sushi’s are the plain ebi, tobiko, and ebi fry’s~ the sushi in the first picture was a unique and new one for us, cheese and mayo seared ebi, very interesting i loved their booth seatings as well as their beautiful plates, a super pretty and comfortable location conclusion, i highly recommend @sushihonba and i’m so glad that there is at least one sushi place out there that still has reasonable prices because i truly cannot justify paying $4.20+ for a plate even though they are in the Gold Coast, i will definitely be visiting them each time i am over there~ since they are so popular, on busy nights expect a 15-25 minute wait, they give you a buzzer so you can sit outside, time passes quickly if you go with a group and the quality of the sushi you eat is so worth it! i was super impressed and they definitely deserve a 5/5~
Absolutely perfect everything I ate was delicious the sushi rolls were amazing and the waiter that attended to us was amazing well mannered and he was very happy to assist with anything will be back again very soon
