And we first came to eat at supreme kitchen this was a choice that was made by a different family member.nnWhen we had gone and had looked at the ratings it was 3.9.nnI asked out loud is this really where we are going to eat as the ratings are quite poor for Melbourne.nnWe decided to give it a try and really should have given it a miss.nnThe first dish that came was the eggplant. That was surprisingly good and set the wrong tone for the entire evening.nnWe've expectations high as the other dishes came out we were systemically disappointed one dish after another.nnOnly the crispy pork belly was four out of five stars. If you are contemplating ordering the duck, don't.nnThe presentation is not bad however it is not matched by the taste of the dish. Most of the dishes had too much of one flavour. It was either too sweet too salty too sour too something.nnI think the worst part of the evening was when I went to pay. I was faced with the screen that you were to select how much you would like to tip. Unfortunately this was not a touch screen. You couldn't actually select what you wanted to tip or if you wanted to tip at all.nnThere was 5 10 15%. And you got to make the choice when the person behind the counter is staring at you asking how your meal went.nnAdmittedly I was too much of a coward to just say no thank you I did not have great enough service of food to warrant a tip. But that is on me.nnAnyways if you're considering coming to this restaurant, now that the food is likely to be a disappointment. That's not themselves are very friendly and the atmosphere is quite nice.nnThough those are two lesser reasons I go to any restaurant to eat.
Pricey for what you get. The Mongolian beef for $43 lacked flavour, the Chinese broccoli for $36 was mostly tough chewy stalks. Kirin beer was $12.50. Outstanding dish was the tasty roasted duck. Service, however, was very attentive and dishes came out very quickly. Not on my list of places to return. Better to travel a couple of km to Box Hill for superior quality.
The fish stock was pretty good but the rest were ordinary. In my opinion, it was pricey for an Okay meal. It is very hard to find parking in the area. The service was okay. Overall, I don't think I'll visit again.
This restaurant charges five‑star prices but delivers nowhere near five‑star quality. The food looks nothing like the photos, and the portions are disappointing. They even removed all the leafy parts from the green vegetables, which made the dishes feel stripped down and poor value for money. Definitely not recommended.
Authentic Cantonese restaurants are hard to come by and Supreme J ticks most of the boxes. The dishes celebrate the food’s original flavor without the use of heavy seasoning. The roast duck and pork are delightful when it’s fresh out of the oven. I recommend the cordycep steamed chicken but the only problem with that dish is the splinters from the chopped pieces. Eat slowly.
