An absolutely stunning river walk. I wasn’t sure what to expect here as it was a new walk for me. A great break from the usual mount lofty and morialta falls. There were many trailheads depending on what you want in a walk. Some fun swimming points on a hot day also. We were nearly alone along the trail with an occasional couple passing by. Definitely worth a visit!
We did the hike in Sturt Gorge Recreation Park last Saturday. It was a bit drizzly in the morning, but the color in the park got so much more vivid because of the grooming weather. We took our cat Parker with us this time. He loved being in the wilderness! We had him on a leash where he was walking proudly along side of us among the tranquility in the park. It’s moment like this that make you feel that life is indeed beautiful.
Nice place for a walk, usually many visitors. Watch out for the motorbikes and crazed dog.
Great hiking gorge, quite steep for inexperienced hikers, but there are paths which are easy for beginners. We liked the dam. It is very quite there
Great place for a hike with the dog or mtn bike. LOTs of brown snakes in the summer month's. Saw 3 within 100m of each other on the gravel path on the Craigburn Farm side. If coming in late spring or summer. Keep your dog close on a short lead.
This was my first time hiking Sturt Gorge. We took the wattle track. Roughly 2hour hike. Very nice walk it would be gorgeous in the autumn and/or spring time. Plenty of Birdlife, we heard what sounded like a family of kookaburras laughing away together. We seen roo poo on the track So if your quiet enough you may even see one or two the view from the dam wall is stunning and don't forget to shout "ECHO" when you get to the top my 20month old loved it It's definitely worth packing some snacks and plenty of water for the walk!!
One of the best nature hikes so close to Adelaide. There are even a few geocache to find which adds to the fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed walking along the Gorge/River trail via the Parrianna Track with my mate. It was exhilarating! The trail leading down the Sturt River was clearly defined and ran close to the river itself providing easy access to the shallow water. The trail was surrounded by tons of healthy green trees that provided plenty of shade which was accompanied by tranquil sounds of birds chirping, lizards rustling, and water flowing . Perfect for people aged over 10 since the first decline is very steep.
Great walking trails Well sign posted . Best time to visit is winter when creeks are flowing.
Lived in the area for over 8 years but never ventured in until recently. Man, I really missed out on spending a lot of time in a beautiful hidden gem of the Adelaide suburbs. Extensive walking, running, biking trails offering views of the beach, city and hills... I'll have to come back more often for sure!
