Pretty nice, like a Malaysian variety show of delicious flavours. The vibe is nonexistent barely audible music and the deep hum of a broken air conditioning unit. Cash only also.
We went to Malaysia and the Nasi Lemak with curry chicken is better here! Salt n pepper squid is great too! Definitely recommend this place. Decor and tables could be updated, which cost them one star. Delicious food for a reasonable price.
Nice little quiet Malaysian eatery. Large serves. Curry Laksa and Lamb curry were authentic and tasty. Basic decor and service and prices cheap. Cash only.
Great food. HORRIBLE service. I have just come from lunch at the Hawthorn branch of this establishment. It is one of many visits I have done to this local to me in the past 2 years. I asked the older lady working there is the "curry laksa" had any seafood in it; noting that there is another item on the menu called "SEAFOOD laksa." She answered that the "curry laksa" has just clams, no other seafood. She also said that it is 'chicken laksa.' I asked this because I am highly allergic to a lot of seafood like prawns, basa fish and other crustaceans. I have difficulty breathing if I eat any of these. Because of the lady's advise, I went ahead and ordered the 'curry laksa.' When it arrived, lo and behold, it had one tiny piece of chicken meant and full of fish cakes and squid balls. NO SEAFOOD did you say?!? When I asked the waitress, I thought it is chicken laksa? She said, yeah the soup is made of chicken broth. And I asked further, but you said "no seafood but clams." She said, yeah it has no seafood - fishcakes only. ??? She even went on to say," if you don't want those, just give to your boyfriend." She dares to tell me what to do with my own food. He happens not to eat seafood either. But that's besides the point!! As a food establishment, I would expect the staff to know what is in their food and treat any allergies seriously. When I told her I have food allergies, she had to ask her work-mate to ask if the soup indeed does not have prawns. This is not the first time I had this response either. A few months ago, I ordered another thing on the menu. When it arrived, again it had some seafood. I asked the same lady if it has prawns in it. She turns to me with a really annoyed look on her face and said "what?" like I was wasting her time with my questions. On another visit, I went there with my partner. We went at around 2pm which is a quieter time at the establishment. Our order took a while to arrive. Mine arrived after about 20mins. I was almost finished eating my food and his still has not been served. Then we noticed that all the staff have started sitting around a round table at the end of the restaurant, getting ready to have their own lunch. We followed up on his order then. They have completely missed his order. I am giving this place 2-stars as the food does taste good - if and when they do manage to get it right and not cause serious allergic reactions. But I do think that they need an overhaul of the staff.
Good fried rice, nasi lemak, claypot lou shu fan, loh bak.. and I'll be all day if I had to tell you what I like here. Very flexible people too! If you guys are true Malaysians, then you make me proud!
The food is quite nice, I have tried the Nasi lemak and all the variations of it, really good value. The laksa wasn't the best I have tried but nice still.
I was enjoying mi curry laksa until I found TWO chicken hearts in my soup. I couldn't eat anymore after that. It was just too much.
Authentic Malaysian cuisine, at big servings. Decor a little dated, but food is good and service is quick.
5 stars for food. Nasi lemak is just brilliant. Really cheap food and good value for money. Very busy on weekends and noisy.
We have been here a few times and have always enjoyed it they have a great range of different dishes in affordable price ranges.
