I'm convinced this place exists to actively hinder students. Incompetent staff who don't care, no compassion and no commitment to help. The incompetence and unwillingness to actually review my case cost me an extra 6 months of unnecessary study and an additional $10,000 in subject fees. The person who I spoke to couldn't be bothered escalating my case to someone who was actually qualified to handle it, despite my pleading. I only later found out their assessment was completely wrong, they were unqualified to resolve my case and I could have been saved all my troubles.nnThere has never once been an occasion, no matter how trivial, where an issue I have had has been successfully and competently solved by Stop 1. Every time you go there, you will get different answers and solutions for the same problem. No one seems to know anything, and it's total luck of the draw if the person you are assigned to will bother sending you to someone who can actually help you. No one has any specialised knowledge, and you will be actively watching in real time as they attempt to answer a question by searching publicly available information on the uni website and then interpreting it for you, according to their personal opinions.nnMY ADVICE: Get through as much of your degree without them as possible, and never accept their outcome as fact. Advocate for yourself, go through the student union, and find out the email of the person you actually need. Never go through stop 1 if it all possible to avoid.
Stop 1 is the place you go to stop any chance of getting something sorted or resolved. And thanks for putting me on hold for half an hour so you could eventually just hang up on my call because you didn't want to deal with it. Admissions is also useless - find another uni.
It’s terrible, I asked for my grades cause it is WAF and they say that even if it is WAF it should come out in the 11th but it came out 2 weeks later and now I missed the graduation, and I asked for the graduation invite as it is only 2 days late which wasn’t my fault, but they didn’t even reply with respect and told me to stop contacting them. They say it’s within policy that the results are this late, what kind of system would give out marks later than graduation invitations, it’s kind of out of the mind.
Tegan from Stop 1 is an absolute gem. I called with an incredibly urgent Global Learning enquiry, and Tegan solved my issue in literally less than thirty minutes. I can't thank her enough for her efficiency, reassurance, and professionalism. A real credit to UniMelb!
New domestic student and slightly horrified at the level of bureaucracy and inefficiency of their online services. Not all students are able to make it for an in person visit during limited business hours. Trying to update a study plan change and it’s been a trying experience using their online forms where the university administration seemingly is unableunwilling? to contact the member of faculty directly to get the clarification they need to process the changes and relying on me instead to pass messages between them.
