I would say this is the best hostel I have stayed In Australia. It’s only 2 minutes away from Manly beach and short stroll from other precious beaches. The breakfast is outstanding and it has everything you need for the day. The staff is very welcoming and made me feel like home. Big shout out to Fabio, Sophie, Alan and all the stoke beach house crew
I’ve stayed in about 30 hostel before and I’m not normally particular about things. This is a good hostel to stay at with lots of perks lots of ways to get some free, drink drinks, free breakfast and surfboards.nnHOWEVER the rooms are way way way too hot to be sleeping in. I was hoping to get three really good nights of sleep and I’ve slept the worst I have in a number of years. If you have friends in this hostel, it’s a great place to visit, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. You shouldn’t have to be buying fans and sleeping pills just to get through a good nights sleep.
The rooms get very hot due to the lack of aircon.nSome beds have no privacy at all.nService was good but they get you to make your own beds. They run events daily which is great for solo travellers.nLocation is very good being just 2 min walk from Manly Beach.
I don’t think I could fault my stay. It has completely made my trip and I’ve made friends for a lifetime. I loved every bit about it. It’s clean, has lots of light, social, fun, great events, right by the beach, generally just a beautifully designed hostel.nIf you wanna come Sydney, come to exactly here!
Honest negatives:n- WiFi never worked in courtyard/common area like fully would disconnect and barely worked in lobby, that’s a basic necessity for people with limited data travelingn- no AC which is stated no where on website/hostelworld all they mention is their awesome fans which don’t work/ have ZERO air flow even on the highest setting, I didn’t hear one girl in my room turn theirs on my entire stay because they don’t work. due to this the room is hot & loud at night from having to keep the balcony door open for air. there’s no curtains on the room window even though it faces a busy street below so if you need to open your bed curtain for air there’s bright lights shining inn- my food that was properly labeled was stolen from fridge within less than a dayn- luggage storage in room has no way to lock because they took the lids off the storage cages and their aren’t even mini lockers for your most beloved items so you have to worry about your things being stolen any time you’re gonen- me & another girl sitting quietly kicked out of lobby at 10:55, if it doesn’t actually close at 11pm say that! went upstairs just to hear loud music & several people still talking loud in kitchen for another ten minutesn- basically ignored while checking out & had to ask if there was anything else i needed to do as she stared blankly at me nor was i asked about my stay, clearly no care for guest experiencen- bathrooms were consistently dirty/not stocked even though they’d be closed multiple times a day for cleaning??n- several groups of people knocking on lobby door at night and being allowed into the hostel partying/yelling after 9/10pm. if someone was a guest they clearly would have a key & be able to get in on their own. night manager was on duty & had no issue with it which made me feel unsafe as a guest on who could enter the building.nnThe negatives outweighed the positives of this hostel by a lot and there are much better hostels in Sydney with fun activities/upbeat social vibe. It was a big letdown after being so excited for my stay.
