Stayed here for 4 nights as a base to inject some money back into the region. Stayed here many years ago, but won’t bother again. Stayed in an en-suite site. Would have appreciated that the site was reasonably tidy of sticks and bark before we arrived. Staff tidied and bagged up debris from the other en-suite sites while we were there, but then left the garbage bags full of sticks and bark laying on the site. They were still there when we left.nThe amount of security cameras around the park, is a bit of overkill and feels like an invasion of privacy.nWe also wondered why staff stopped their buggies a couple of times each day and took photos of us, our vehicle and camp.nThe park is not well cared for compared to when I stayed many years ago. Don’t let the website fool you if you’re looking for grassy sites.nIt appears there are far too many projects on the go and none of them finished, except possibly for anything painted with the black paint that must have been a good price.nThe park looks like a building or manufacturing site.nThe ceiling painted black makes it impossible to see in the en-suite.nGenerally, the park didn’t feel welcoming and we wouldn’t recommend.
We recently stayed for 1 night on our way through back to Melbourne from SA, the staff were very friendly, beds were incredibly comfortable some small cleanliness issues such as dirty towel hanging on bathroom door on arrival, an old cake of soap in shower and toilet had been used and not flushed, Also new body wash dispensers installed in cabin shower which didn’t work.nA lot of money is being put into the park and I would be interested to return when works are completed for a longer stay as it had so much potential.
I can't recommend staying here.nWe stayed a couple of years ago and the deterioration since that time is disappointing. The cabin now is all black with cobwebs and dust all over the front door and verandah. The black walls inside highlight the poor cleaning.nPots and pans supplied, but nothing to use them on, only a microwave and electric frypan.nWhile I understand that black may be recognised as an efficient solar colour for the outside, this does not apply to the inside, it just makes it dark and dingy.
The one positive about this was the friendly staff. I’m afraid everything else wasn’t a positive experience.nThe rooms lacked even the most basic expectations. One plug point for use, no toaster, a kettle only large enough for one serve. Poor AC which did nothing.nThe public amenities area was ill equipped and you were expected to bring all of your own stuff. The shared toilets had a PIN number to get in.nAt night, the outside seating next to our room was pitch black with no lighting.nAt one point we lost water supply totally.nThe converted busses were a good idea but it was poorly executed and needs some more thought and planning to make it more positive.nMy advice - stay somewhere else and pay a little more.
Great spot for a few nights if you want to explore the Grampians.nPretty quiet, even with the road nearby.nLovely lake in the middle, worth paying more for a site next to it.nLaundry facilities were handy, but you have to get in early.nTwo camp kitchens - almost always occupied by visa workers from a nearby factory.nOne of the toilet blocks has been painted black with low lighting - incredibly hard to see anything. I used another block near the entrance that hadn't been painted yet and it was much nicer/more practical.nUnfortunately, the owners seem to be making snide comments to anyone who raises this, instead of taking it as an opportunity to improve the site. It’s not about not liking the colour scheme, it’s about practicality.
