State Cinema Motueka is a modern, fully-equipped 35mm projection equipped cinema, showing the latest movies in 2D and by the end of 2012 in 3D with the latest high film rate of 48 frame per-second.

Story

Our spacious, air-conditioned auditorium has 97 comfortable seats, tiered for unobstructed viewing, and a superb seven-speaker sound system (DTS, DOLBY ) giving the best reproduction of any cinema in the top of the south. A full JBL Theatre System.

Come to the State for excellent service, popcorn, drinks, tasty treats (the best ice creams in town) to see your favorite movies on the big screen. Plenty of car parking on site.

Great wee place and Mark the owner was so awesome to deal with when buying our tickets as he offered great friendly customer service to go with It, so A+ in my books. We went to see WW84 & we will diffently come back again next year in our holidays.
Comfy seats, cosy cinema, good value. The gentleman serving us was friendly, chatty and seemed to have a passion for cinematography.
My daughter and I went to watch Fly Me to the Moon this afternoon. We both work so try to catch up with each other every month or so. I booked online which was easy, then when we arrived we purchased our snacks. I was so stoked to see the ice creams were made just like when my kids were little...thick chocolate coating. We were the only ones in the theatre so could sit where we wanted. The movie started on time ...I had the best time as did my daughter...it was just like the old days. Thanks so much to the owners for still running the movie even though there was only 2 of us, thanks for the most delicious popcorn we have had in a while...& those ice creams were so yummy!....Definitely coming back.nOh and the movie was great.n

I just love this wee Cinema. It's family owned and the owners take pride in keeping it clean and comfortable.nIt's a small theatre and can get pretty busy, especially during school holidays.nI can't recommend this place more. The movies are always the latest, the popcorn fresh and yummy and the whole experience is excellent.
