What an awesome Gelato with a large variety of unique flavours! I ordered the Earl Grey + Pavlova and tried the Brown Sugar, Coconut Cream + Lime and the Vegemite + White Chocolate. Every single flavour was strong and you’ll definitely taste the funky flavours. A bit pricey at $6 a cup, but well worth it for the variety they offer.
This is one of the hardest reviews I have done so far. Usually food is fantastic, mediocre or terrible and that's about it. For stampede gelato, I would have readily given it a 1.5/5 simply because it is as close to ice cream and as far from gelato as it can possibly get. Thick, creamy, rich, numbs and coats the tongue dulling the senses; sorely lacking that explosion of flavour and neverending more-ish allure from gelato that just vanishes in the mouth. Here's the thing, different people expect different things from their cold desserts, and if this place was called Stampede Ice Cream it would probably have gotten 5/5 from an ice cream lover and I would not even have tried it given how it looks like ice cream and not my expectation of gelato... But the word geato is there in the name and highly recommended by locals, so I gave it a go. I was as disappointed by the taste and texture as I thought I would be, but I still ended up getting the option with the least ice creamy texture - coconut cream and oreo. There was a sorbet option too which I would have gotten but thise 2nflavours wouldnt mix well. So why did I go ahead getting a scoop even though it wasn't something I like? The staff. She was absolutely friendly and amazing, chatting with everyone who passed by and genuinely happy to be serving ice cream and recommending tacos, which was more than edible. That was what saved this place from getting 2 stars. To be fair, the flavours were creative and nowhere offensively sweet like those from swan river "gelato". However, as far as gelato goes, this really is as ice cream as it can get and nowhere near what I would expect from gelato even though gelato can also mean ice cream in general. I really wanted to like this place but the texture and taste just cant cut it as gelato. Keep up the fantastic service though!
So good refreshing flavours.. We tasted around 10 and all of them were very good. Also took home the 15$ pint - Roasted Carrots and Grape Jelly and it was mind blowing.
So good! I might have had 2. So many flavours. Stampede is inside The Sunshine Harvester Works, very first shop inside the main entrance on the left. Photo is passionfruit curd - yum.
BEST Ice cream I’ve ever eaten. LOVE all the flavours. Can’t rave about it more. I just wish it was open more so I could eat it more!
Lovely selection and a very generous serving for a $6.50 single scoop. Silky smooth creamery.
Been a long time fan of Stampede. However, over the past few weeks, we visited on two separate occasions and on both days, the store was being packed up by staff well before the advertised closing time. On the second occasion, on a Friday night, the staff were cleaning up 30 mins before closing time and wouldn't serve us. Extremely disappointing service. If the closing times have changed, please edit this accordingly or stay open as per your advertised times.
So many flavors to choose from. Amazing gelato. A must when you next visit Fremantle.
If you’re looking for gelato, then I would advise avoiding this place as its product is definitely more on the ice-cream side of things - thicker, creamier and heavier consistency. They do offer an ever changing range of unique flavours which is exciting, often with an Aussie flavour twist. If you’re adventurous with your flavours and prefer ice-cream, then this place is for you. Plus the staff are generally very friendly and provide good service. However, If you’re after a more authentic gelato experience, then I would suggest going elsewhere plenty of alternative nice places nearby.
It’s a very very unique gelato shop, with some very wild creations and mixtures. We got the Vegemite flavour and chicken crimpys, both were very interesting. Probably wouldn’t get them again, but love the concept and novelty.
