St Peter's Woodlands

About

St Peter's Woodlands Grammar School is an independent early learning and primary school located in Glenelg, South Australia.

Story

It is our whole school community that makes St Peter’s Woodlands Grammar School special - the students, the parents, the staff, the old scholars and our supporters. If you have a community which values safety and security and hope for children then you will have successful children. Everything we do is focused on that partnership, the ethos of community.

We are blessed to be able to develop young lives in a beautiful physical setting surrounded by superb heritage buildings and glorious gardens. Set on a beautiful 3.36 acre site, SPW offers students a contemporary learning environment consisting of spacious grounds and state of the art teaching units. It is certainly a stimulating and creative environment for our future leaders.

We believe that young people are strengthened by history and diversity, so the 150 year old heritage of SPW is a daily source of pride and respect for students and staff.

While we love our local area of Glenelg and our state, we are also an International Baccalaureate Organisation World School that offers the Primary Years Program, one of many recognised throughout the world. We are an internationally minded educational institution, part of a much wider universe and culture.

We believe that a child is born with a spontaneous sense of wonder and happiness at being alive, and a school's most important job is to nurture and foster that daily sense of delight. At the same time we have a serious responsibility to reveal the accumulated experiences that we as humans have gained - how the world works, how change creates opportunity and how diversity adds richness.

Most importantly we want our students to understand how the values of tolerance, compassion and respect underpin our relationships. SPW is built around the values and traditions of the Anglican Church with the fundamental Christian teaching "love God and love your neighbour" underpinning the School's philosophy and programs.

Despite more than a century of success, SPW is constantly looking to the future to improve the student, parent and teacher educational experience.

SPW is just 30 minutes from Adelaide's CBD by car or tram.

Most students from SPW st peters woodlands came to my school I'm not stating my school. Most of the students tend to say how bad the school is but my friend who left my school went there says its amazing and great which I respect his opinion. However, my friends says there was a lot of bullying and even worse things that happening such as someone throwing texters at the teacher and all they get is a suspension-.
I live next to the School and it is a joy to me each day. The children are happy and play well, I love hearing them. The parents are friendly and caring. The school is very well run by excellent staff. As an Old Scholar with 4 generations of my family attending since 1926 I am very proud to have had that long term association. Don’t judge the school by one naughty child. All schools have naughty children that’s normal.
Best school ever!! Love it so much! Extremely friendly teachers that are great at promoting student motivation and initiative. All students have an opportunity to try anything they want and all the kids are friendly and nice. The teachers push the students to do their very best and are harsh markers. SPW has been the best experience and I couldn’t ask for anything better.
I wrote an email to the principle because his student was throwing rocks at random cars driving past. extremely dangerous behavior! someone could have been killed right there during school pick up hours. Police requested me to contact the school principle. But what did this principle reply? Not a single word. It pretty much tells you what you can expect from them. The price you pay doesn't define the quality of education. sometimes it's the opposite.
My daughter was there for six years. If your son and daughter does not fit into the 'safe' mould academically this school offers little support. The headmaster is utopian we are all happy here at spw and when issues came up like bullying or other problems he refused to listen. Class numbers are another problem, after grade three they go from four classes down to three. My daughter's class in grade four was 29, my niece in a public school had 28 but she wasn't paying almost 7000 a year. There is a 'boost' programme which is done in numbers - never individualised and basically stops at grade five. After that forget it. My daughter had problems in maths and we had to get an extra tutor. Bottom line: don't be fooled by the beautiful grounds
this school is very bad and i don not recommend. the new principal has put such a bad influence on all of the children and has got the school in such a bad place.
Very happy with the school, my daughter enjoys it. Good variety of extra curricular activities. Great teachers.
I didnt like it they were horible at handling bullie but i love my teacher miss gerouse she was the best
